Rupert has left all his companies to his son, who though a conservative, does not appear to be the same brand of wacky that his dad was.  The son's wife even worked on Clinton's Climate change initiative. They are not science deniers, quite the opposite.

They are, however, making it for profit.  This is the biggest change, but the son claims teh profits will get re-invested back into science and education.

My husband just spent 20 minutes yelling and overtalking me to get the point across that, basically, like father like son (even tough he's rather die than be compared to his own father).  Oh, and I'm wrong, shut up.

o if you are going to judge a person by their family, and not their actions, be my guest. But that does not appear to be the case here.

I hope you're right!

I know that the lady who was in charge of Fox's movie division made some pretty impressive investments in science-friendly movies, irreligious TV programs (e.g. Family Guy), and in general showed more interest in profit than ideology.

Some conservatives do realize that allying themselves with the religious fundamentalist nut-jobs who try to squash interest in (and knowledge about) science will do major harm to the United States' ability to conduct business in the future, so perhaps the son is of that vein.

Let's hope so.  I would love to discover that NatGeo will improve, not decline.

Sorry to hear you've been having some bad days.

Here's a little tidbit of encouraging news, if you haven't seen it yet

...at least, I found it to be a little ray of light in an otherwise unending parade of miserable headlines:

Only time will tell but my initial reaction is a pessimistic one.

Nat Geo lost my value when their cable channel sold out. The magazine is sure to follow considering.

National Geographic Special Post-Rapture Issue

New study by the National Geographic-Fox Research Team shows that the Rapture will occur in the year 2020.

January 1, 2020 will be wrap up day when NG-F staff will be taken from the Earth. See instructions inside for what to do if you're still here.

Ever notice when you’re mixing up some Quik?
You stir it until it’s rich and thick
You hate to take that first little sip
‘Cause you know Quik is more than a sip

It’s so rich and thick and chocolaty
But you can’t
Drink it slow
If it’s Quik
So do me no
Slllllp
That’s the saddest sound I know

Guess the little rabbit with the guitar will miss National Geographic, too.

(Note: You did not hear this from me.)
