Facing a dilemma

RE: Facing a dilemma
All I have to say is that I'm really sorry you had to go through that, and have to continue to go through it, King. I think you're doing the right thing, though.

Hugs.

I'm late to the party here, lkingpinl, let me just add that I am impressed as how strong a person you've come out of this, and I tend to agree with those who think that you will today be much better equipped to deal with this than you might think. Evaluate the impact on your wife and children, and how you will perceive this in the long run, and decide.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

RE: Facing a dilemma
I just came back to this thread and read it all again, including what came after my last post...

...Kingpin, I just wanna say it's amazing you didn't get consumed by bitterness and turn out to be an asshole.

Regardless of what happens with this trial, you have already won, just by being the great guy you are.

Keep it in mind. Smile
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Thank you.  I do get told that quite often by people that know my story.  Every therapist I've seen in to my early adult life said I had a textbook childhood to become a sociopath.  Guess I'm just one of the cases that shows you don't always become a product of your environment.

Logical assumption, but no.  I'd have to divulge the rest of the story for you to understand why.  Though I do credit my grandmother's demand for academic perfection as the reason I was so successful in my education.

RE: Facing a dilemma
Well quick update. Met with Investigators this morning for about 3.5 hours. We reviewed everything they have in the case files and they took a couple of sworn statements. They are not pursuing the homicide charge, only the CSC charges. They are drafting the indictment and will be formally filing sometime next week. It was surprisingly not as difficult as I envisioned in my head. Glad I went through with it. It's really just beginning but so far I feel pretty good. Appreciate everyone's support here!
