I think Jaclyn is fantastic. A trifle obvious, in her coverage of some topics, but her facial expressions and quips are hilarious. I'm certainly comfortable with women running the world, though I doubt they're as immune to the lure of unchecked power and empire-building as we like to imagine.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love. RE: BREAKING: OREGON COLLEGE SHOOTING

At times and mostly true but in this case you are talking about someone not sane and willing to die. May have planned to die in which case a threat from a gun wouldn't have much effect on him. Pulling a gun at someone and hesitating might just get you killed. I've found on gun issues most the time the statistics are incomplete depending on who is funding the study. Seen this on both sides of the gun control debate. RE: BREAKING: OREGON COLLEGE SHOOTING

I was mentioning it as a way of explaining incomplete statistics. When I learnt how to shoot, I was taught to not point a gun at a person unless I intended to shoot, and to only shoot to kill. That is still valid advice. (October 5, 2015 at 11:17 pm)Parkers Tan Wrote: Of course. I was positing why statistics might possibly be incomplete. I wonder which one of you actually have been in a shootout. I have, as I said, sometime, pretty much when I joined up. It's pure chaos, mixed with panic and disorientation. So, I'm pretty sure, that only a hardened soldier or law enforcement officer could do more good than harm with a gun in a situation like that.

Mattb In my line of work that isn't always true but I would suggest it to most. |
