A look at a piece of my insane family

I don't think it's the 'bullhorn' manner of presentation that's preventing changing Binny from being an atheist. It's the crazy insane things he's saying. Also, your new replacement sentence changes the meaning of the original sentence.

Ok, I get it now. This is the way you apply the bible to real life. In the bible you've learned to replace all words that are written/spoken there with different meanings that your god gives you in your head, and so it's good to do that everywhere?

Fine attack me for trying to help the situation, I don't really care. Take the advice or not I don't care. I was just pointing out that the absolutest refusal to change regardless of circumstance could possibly encourage some, if not most, evangelicals. What ever happend to " If you don't have anything good to say" ?

Well tack, I do thank you for trying to help. If I were talking to any other person besides my nephew I probably wouldn't say confrontational statements. I have learned to bite my tongue. I do belong to a group of moms who are very jesusy. I just sit and don't say a word. As for my nephew, I have told him to his face that I think he's crazy for thinking the earth is 6000 years old. I am a glutton and love to encourage certain insane family members because they used to be semi normal, but now are completely delusional. It's fun for me. Not so much for themSmile

I'm not saying bite your tounge (I'm personally a firm believer in speaking what you believe in)... If you believe they're crazy feel free to tell them that (what you're saying is though nothing will ever change my mind and I think you're crazy... I'm simply talking about the fact you're seeming closed-minded by having such an absolute stance of nothing will change my mind ever. You could just say

"What the hell are you talking about. Try what? God? That's suppose to straighten my spine, uncompress my disk, get rid of my 3rd nipple? I'm also near sighted and have astigmatism. That can be fixed too? Call me a skeptic. I was born an atheist and I'll probablydie an atheist. You nor anyone else will change that with your rants. God bless atheism"

Hope that didn't change your wording around to completly defeat your meaning .. :S

I have to bite my tongue. I'm a business owner in a christian town.
I wouldn't put the word probably in there. That's not what I meant. I wont probably die an atheist I will die an atheist. I've been one all of my adult life, I'm 47. At this stage in my life I'm set in my ways. I feel if I put in the word probably that would give crazy nephew a reason to think he can change my mind.
And just for the record, I'm not looking to get rid of my 3rd nippleSmile

I wish I could rid myself of my 3rd testicle. It's gets tiresome having the GFs call me E.T. (Extra Testicle)
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Thank you Samson. You should read the latest message I got from jesus freak nephew.
Here it is if you want to read it. I haven't responded to him yet, but I'm going to decline his offer. I just haven't figured out how to word itSmile

I like you, Binny Boo. I am glad that you are who you are and not fakin the funk. I would like to come over and pray for you concerning any sickness some time. Whats the worst thing that can happen, nothing? Either way, keep it real, so the real won't keep you. Your peculiar nephew, Jason Samuel Thompson.
Oh yah--God told me to tell you that "that He needs you. You need the people whom you love." It may seem ridiculous but God is by far the weirdest person I have ever encountered, He's not from here.

Is he calling your atheism a sickness?

That's what I initially read too, but I think he's saying that should Binny fall ill with whatever sickness he would like to come over and pray for a cure. I might be wrong because the sentence looks very messed up to me.

This one to me is more interesting:
Quote:Oh yah--God told me to tell you that "that He needs you. You need the people whom you love." It may seem ridiculous but God is by far the weirdest person I have ever encountered, He's not from here.

I'd like to know the dynamics of this. Is he hearing a voice in his head? Does God talk to him on the phone?
Best regards,
