These are the answers I was hoping for. Not all the theists have chimed in yet, but I would hope that is their reason, as well (I have my doubts about a couple, though). I have the same reason for being glad there are theists here. I enjoy discussing the different reasons everyone can offer for believing or not believing. At the heart of it, I can't understand why anyone believes that there is a god and the discussions here have helped me understand a bit better. It hasn't changed my mind, I still don't believe it for a second, but at least I understand where you guys are coming from a little better than I used to.
We're all the same, really. Imperfect people with similar experiences. We live, we love, we work, etc... but some of us believe in god and some of us do not.

I'll say this about the theists here, they are prepared to defend and debate what they believe.
You try to debate the issue on a christian(for example) forum and you'll get shut down quicksmart.
The xtians that are on australianchristians have put the atheists on their ignore lists and refuse to
even talk to us.(rather petulant behaviour really)

That would be rather petulant to ignore somone just seeking to see the other side of the equation. Glad I can accomidate the slings and arrows
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

Well atheism is pretty easy to understand. Atheism is lack of belief in god or gods. It's got nothing to do with anything else. Just lack of belief in god. That's it.
Also reason has nothing to do with it. You either believe in god or you don't. Simple.
I don't believe that a god exists, and so this makes me an atheist.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.
Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
