You seem to think that you're some sort of deep thinker because you have an imaginary friend based on an intentionally vague description found in books written by ancient peasants and vague, never substantiated promises of an eternal afterlife.  Which is completely laughable.

If you want deep thought, you need to meet us halfway.  So far, the theists who attempt to apologize are lacking in that department.  You need more than special pleading, conflating assertions with arguments, utter reliance on tu quoque, and insults.

But, I'm sure you'll just continue calling everyone who disagrees with you stupid.  That seems to be the most common behavior of the apologists here.  Sound and fury signifying nothing because they have nothing else to provide.

Come on !!! Man you don't even try.  You are telling me that you never felt or thought about your existence and how it might fit into this this world.  For you it is just a fluke!!! Would rather have your mother abort the pregnancy than give you life? Would rather be born somewhere else?  Everyone (hopefully) goes thru some form of questioning about life in general.  No you don't have to come to the same conclusion as I do, but to play dumb like say there is nothing after death or there is no meaning of life is just being lazy.

Ah, yes, another theist raging against a strawman they created from things I didn't say. How quaint.

Of course I asked myself those questions. Why am I me and not someone else, and so on. Ultimately I decided it was largely based on luck. My parents decided to fuck at a certain point, a certain sperm fertilized a certain egg, and I popped out about 9 months later.

But, you see, the circumstances surrounding my birth are boring. Yes, me being a white, straight, male American gives me certain advantages over some other people, but it's not like that's a rare enough occurrence to really take note of. So, I don't really care about why I exist, or why I'm not an Ethiopian, or any of that kind of thing because I can't change any of that. It's meaningless to dwell on it, and I have better things to do with my time than mentally masturbate over the idea of discrete consciousness. And I see nothing miraculous about being one of the over 7 billion humans on this planet. Amazing, when thinking about the size and scale of the universe? Sure. But I'm sure I'll be forgotten by history shortly after I'm dead, like most people. Which is why I try to fill my life with doing things, visiting places, spending time with loved ones, and creating new memories. I don't want to squander the only time I reasonably can predict I have left.

Quote:There is no wonder that Modern Atheism is consider by most as useless.  At least the atheists  in ancient times, especially in the east, would have not thrown out the possibility of one's consciousnesses to continue after death.  Atheists today, especially the ones in the West, are just vegetables

When have I ever completely denied the possibility of consciousness continuing after death? Shit, when have I ever completely denied the possibility of a god existing? I don't believe in either due to a lack of credible evidence. I reserve the right to change my mind in light of new evidence. And no, anecdotes aren't evidence.

And I'm still waiting for you to dazzle us with your implied brilliance. So far I am left wanting.

Also, just so you know, I don't live my life for your approval. I couldn't care less if you think I'm stupid or lazy or whatever. Unlike a lot of theists, peer pressure tactics don't work on me. I answer you because it amuses me to do so, nothing more.

I partially agree, what is even more wasteful on this planet are mh.brewer, beccs, Jörmungandr, Bella Morte, and Pandæmonium who are clueless and will remain forever clueless.  I am not trying to save anyone here, just wanted illustrate what is going to happen.

How do you know what will happen?

Ecclesiastes 3:22 (CEV) = "We were meant to enjoy our work, and that’s the best thing we can do. We can never know the future."

Ecclesiastes 10:14 (CEB) = "Fools talk too much! No one knows what will happen; no one can say what will happen in the future."

Is this what Revelation talks about?

Lol. "Wrath of the lamb" - the most adorable kind of wrath there is... Tongue

Ah shit I was left out of that, I couldn't have been condescending enough to the little shit. What exactly are you trying to illustrate is going on, all you have really shown is the stunning amount of ignorance that you personally have.

Is this all one does when they're a theist? Claim they known things and then not actually provide answers to people's requests for information? Seems rather tedious and small minded.

Why not be different?

You don't even post questions worthy to be answered.  Furthermore, you even wouldn't try to understand the meaning of life and death , etc .

You are too lazy and want to be spoon feed, and unfortunately that is not how it works.

I'm too lazy for asking you questions? You wave away the logical and and honest questions I and others have asked with the preclusion that 'we won't try to understand [the answers]'? Explain to everyone how that is fair? Because you don't even know me. Why would you assume after 2 posts that I wouldn't care or want to understand? What is your basis for this conclusion, bearing in mind again that you have had absolutely no interaction with me until the above post?

I think I deserve an answer seeing as you've met my honest and friendly questions with insults and accusations. Does this kind of behaviour look good for your god, whichever one it might be? Does your God reward you for being cruel and full of hate to those you don't even know? Why? How does it reward you and why would you enjoy taking pleasure out of cruelty? Isn't that the sign of a sociopath who is devoid of empathy to their fellow man? Are you a sociopath? I hope not.

How sad. Never mind, maybe if you could put us in touch with someone who knows what they're talking about? Thanks in advance ^_^

What of there is no meaning? Or what If you give it meaning through your own subjective experience?

I ask, does it even make sense to ask the question? What if your meaning differs from another?

Please elucidate. What exactly does 'meditation' do in trying to satisfy the question that a beer with friends doesn't? Or a heart to heart with a loved one? Or simple dreaming?

What are your comparators and how are they controlled and calculated?

This is exactly my point about being lazy.  Why don't you sit somewhere, think about the questions you are asking me, do the things you are talking about and try to find the answer, talk to others and see what you find.  You want me to give an answer on a plate.  That is not how it is going happen, it could take almost a lifetime to find the answer or could be very short if you happen to be in the right circumstances.

Anyway, for me the meaning of life is remove myself from materialism so that I would not be bounded to the physical world again.

This is hard for Atheists to accept (probably accomplish) as physical and materialism is the only thing that is true for them, the rest is false,

So just to clarify, you are incapable of answering the simple questions forwarded and have instead resorted to insults. I'm not asking for answers 'on a plate'. A reasonable person will have quite obviously noted that I never once asked what the 'meaning of life' is. Instead I asked for how you calculate your comparators and what's controls you use regarding your supposed 'meaning' vis those that others draw or seek from their own examination(s).

An intelligent person would have been able to answer or to muse over the questions with a degree of intellectual honesty and curiosity and engaged in a rational discussion.

What you have done is instead ignored everything and carried on insulting whoever engages you. I think therefore that you are either a troll with no intent on honest discussion or that you lack the intellectual capacity to actually answer the questions, or perhaps both. I think it's the last option, but I honestly don't really care either way seeing as you are utterly devoid of critical thinking skills or skills per se.

What an incredibly intelligent and educated person you must be Dodgy I'll leave the questions open for you to answer if you can develop the thinking skills necessary to actually answer them at some point in the future.

Until then, I leave with you with the advice, as a moderator, that if your only intention here is troll and insult people, you will be dealt with accordingly.
