right jesus said " before abraham was , I AM " . Gods name is "I AM that I AM" ... so jesus meant that before abraham existed I AM (God) existed . jesus was not saying that he was I AM jesus expressly made the distinction between him and God in everything he said about the issue and just said I AM existed before abraham .

According to the Bible a whole passel of people existed before the lying scumbag Abraham. So if I AM just popped into existence a day before the liar Abraham came on the scene that means that I AM was a Johnny Come Lately.

good point ! so christians you are saying that God is going to allow jews to throw rocks at him while down here on earth ? if jesus was God first he wouldve said so and he wouldnt be tolerating humans to be throwing rocks at him ! and he wouldnt be fleeing the rock throwers he would be standing his ground and putting them in their place . God is not at all shy in the old testament but on earth supposedly God is fleeing from rock throwers and letting humans push him around and bully him .... and praying to himself while insisting to everyone he meets that he is not God saying that in every conceivable way that he is not God and is not working miracles with his own power but with Gods power (which supposedly is his own since he is God are you presuming he was God and just didnt know it then) ?!?!?

doesnt it seem much much much more likely christians that jesus was just a man just like he himself said he was ? theres nothing wrong with questioning what your earthly teachers have taught you didnt the Bible warn against false teachers teaching false doctrine ? what makes your teacher exempt from that and isnt it possible that false teachers hijacked christianity a long long time ago just like cults today are still transforming this religion and adding to it ?

It's bad enough that many Christians are woefully ignorant about the history of the bible, but there's really no excuse for not even knowing what the fucking thing says when it's claimed to be the word of God or something.

Good analysis. I must have read the four Gospels more times than any other book in the bible while I was a Christian and never made this connection. After becoming atheist I had no reason to really think about it anymore. Guess I can't say God sacrificed himself in the name of himself anymore. He's still a terrible father.

Well, that's because most christians - despite declarations of belief in everlasting life, dependent on following revealed will of god - dedicate much less time and energy to this pursuit of "absolute truth" and "salvation", than one would to a hobby.

Maybe I'm just weird, but if I believed religion had any basis in reality - I'd sure as hell would want to make sure I got it right...
