Christian Persecution

Christians are persecuted in other countries that don't grant inalienable rights like this country does (and frankly should practice more). As for universities, there is little room for philisophical comcepts like religion outside those types of classes. Education is about evidence. Unless you can provide concrete evidence, and christians can't, you have nothing to discuss. That's what makes the movie "god's not dead" so funny. The "atheist" is a teacher in the one class where you'd expect to debate about all sorts of religions.

You don't seem to be able to look in the mirror. Look at Saudi Arabia. See how they treat everyone who isn't a muslim? That's what we're trying to prevent christians from doing in this country. We've come a long way from the Salem witch trials of yore, but we haven't convinced everyone yet that the USA should not be a christian theocracy.

There's no room for philosophical concepts? You've got to be kidding me. How about Philosophy courses. Liberal and secularist philosophies and political ideas are spread almost universally by faculty at many universities. The US will never be a theocracy unless we're taken over by Muslims.

I said except outside those types of classes. If you have people wanting to inject into history classes or something, or at any point talking about it like it's a settled fact, then you have problems.

I'm pretty sure Mike Huckabee and the like would love us to go closer to a theocracy than we already are, and we're pretty close already. We have god on our money, our court buildings, and our pledge. We have people complaing about prayer being removed from schools as if it should have been there in the first place. People in office are expected to espouse christianity. People complain that bama might be muslim, as if it's a horrible thing if he did actually believe in allah, ignoring the fact that Huckabee would be as bad for this county as a devout muslim.

No our country isn't a theocracy, though not for lack of trying on the christian's part.

First of all, don't be a baby and call me names.  We're not in grade school - at least I'm not.  He asked someone to define persecution against christians and that's what I did.  It's happening around the world in places like China, North Korea, Africa and the Middle East.  It's also occurring in some institutions, such as colleges, here in the USA, where the administrators and most professors are secular humanists and therefore have the power to suppress christian ideas and practices.  Are you really trying to say that persecution against christians is non-existent?

I actually assumed that the OP meant "American" Christian persecution.  I may be wrong.  As far as schools and colleges go, if they are secular, public institutions, they fall under the protection of separation of church and state.  This has been the case since 1962.  It is only reasonable and respectful to acknowledge that children and young people from many different religious backgrounds attend these institutions.  One religion cannot be promoted above any other by any member of the staff or faculty - that is clearly disrespectful to those who are not members of that religion.  Students are allowed to lead their own prayers and groups if they wish.  If a parent wants a child to attend a religious school, there are thousands of them.

That is what i meant for American christians other than that yeah they are persecuted in third world countries.

Yes, we finally got homosexual marriage, and the christians are pissed off about it. We have abortion, yet religious folks are bending the rules to shut down abortion clinics and planned parenthood. They're in the process of removing something that shouldn't have been there in the first place, and part of the reason they're doing it is satanist groups trolling them.

I hope Lek meant that those are signs the US is focusing on being secular, which is a good thing.
