Masturbation and Sex outside of for the purpose of procreation being a sin probably drove more people to disbelieving in God, because those things being sinful just never made since. My dad used to try to say you could get really sick from masturbating because there's all kinds of germs in that general area. I realized that he was full of crap when I thought about how little it made sense given a lot of people used sex toys. Probably helped though that my mom is a doctor, and whenever he'd say it she would sort of roll her eyes.
