The Tower of Babel

Clearly, that's not how languages mutate/evolve, and if God confused everyones tongue to make all the languages, the effect should have ceased at the end of the story, and not continued unto the present day.

Another instance of scripture not reflecting how the world really works.

this story gets kookier and kookier. There were no Jews during the time of the T of B, so how could it have anything to do with them? Also, everyone was supposed to have been drowned during the flood except Noah and his immediate family. How then could the third generation be so populous as to warrant several cities?
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

And it was not Ur of the Chaldeans UNTIL THE FUCKING CHALDEANS GOT THERE.  Why are you arguing against your own fucking bible, Hugster?  Don't you know that fucking god will hate you for it?

How stupid are you?

I quite agree that Ur of the Chaldeans means your bible bullshit stories could not possibly be true but I regard that as your problem.  As far as I am concerned it is all made up bullshit to begin with.  You are the one who has to fit this shit into history and you cannot do it.

Wow, that's flabbergasting. People really subscribe to that? I mean, people walking on two legs, being able to form coherent sentences? People being able to read and write?
I was going to mention that ww2 was in the 1940s, while we went to the moon in 1968. It would be hard to use ww2 as a modern day example of Babel. But when I read the rest of what he had to say I said, "Oh, fuck it."

That's a common reaction to Hugster's bullshit.  I think he makes it up as he goes along.

Look you muppet, what time the chaldeans arrived isn't relavant, it's the same city no matter what. Didn't you ever stop to consider that maybe it was Ur of the Chaldeans at the time Genesis was written?

http://history-world.org/ur.htm

Quote:The biblical name, Ur of the Chaldees, refers to the Chaldeans, who settled in the area about 900 BC. The Book of Genesis (see 11:27-32) describes Ur as the starting point of the migration westward to Palestine of the family of Abraham about 1900 BC.

In our recent history, we have gone from horse and buggy to the moon, in less than 100 years. Think of what America, Britain, Russia and Germany could of achieved had there been no world war, no language barrier, and they all pooled their resources into one big space program...

Heaven is not up in the sky, it is in another dimension.

Those people lived 600 years+ (at least they did during the antediluvian period) all spoke the same language, and were able to cooperate, in other words they were very, very smart, in so much that they were able to build a device to travel inter-dimensionally.

The word "Babel" means "gate of God".....

Wait.  Yes I can.  Grow up, Hugster.  You do not know what the fuck you are talking about.

Go learn some shit about ancient history and archaeology..... yes, you may have to put your stupid fucking bible down...and get back to me when you are done.  In your case it should take about 20-30 years.

The Early Bronze Age cities of Mesopotamia were stricken by the same drought which brought down Old Kingdom Egypt around 2000 BC.  The Chaldeans brought about a brief revival... 14 centuries later.

How is this relevant to what I said?

Just clarify something, What is your exactly is your position on Abraham and Ur?

Abraham was a crazy old coot who spent his life banging the pubic hairs off of his sister.  He was a world class liar, thief, and killer.  He's the most despicable person in the Bible.  The people of Ur probably kicked his ass out of their country.
