That's not my problem. So long as they keep it that way, I'm cool.

"A feeling that there's something more going on." I have that feeling too. I feel almost certain there is far more going on than I could ever comprehend. I just don't claim to know what it is. Feel free to send me a private message.

Spirituality as the pursuit of something more lofty is essentially escapist. It can also be a device for feeling superior to others without going to the trouble of actually accomplishing anything. You may remember my guru?

I was non-religious for 5 years. Didn't believe in religion. Believed in God and had mystic understanding of reality.
I don't know how people don't see what they are, mainly a soul/spirit.
Perhaps they just wish to "Bring back that lovin' feelin'. Whoa, that lovin' feelin'.....".
People do what they've gotta do, to get through.
Describe their spirituality and I'll give an opinion.
I'm with Thumper, if it doesn't impact my life, I don't care.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
The word, "spiritual" is not well defined and as such, I'm sure it means different things to different people. If I hear someone say they are spiritual but not religious, I take it to mean they have a belief which is not dogmatic but may not pass the muster of the scientific method. Additionally, they probably have a profound, emotional investment in this belief. It is probably a personal thing in that while it is important to the believer, they feel no compulsion to push their belief onto other people. They might try to sell their belief to others with good intentions but they wouldn't think of committing violence on those who don't share their beliefs or discriminating against them. Another words, benign religion.
That is probably not entirely accurate but it's what I think of when I hear someone say they are, "spiritual but not religious." It's also where I think the future of religion of lies. Like it or not, we cannot be the Vulcans of Star Trek unless we take an active role in our own evolution and rewire our brains. We may indeed choose to do that but until and unless we do, we are emotional creatures. As such, "spiritual but not religious" is where I think we will head next.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Ditto
I take "spiritual" as just believing in God/s and/or paranormal shit and the afterlife without any of the bullshit of religious rules and dogma. I have more respect for it than flat religion. I feel like at least spiritual people just see it as a personal belief that they don't push onto others. For that reason I have absolutely no issue with it.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie
To me being spiritual just means believing in some or all woo.
Be it palm reading or feng shui or chakras. It's all turds rolled in different coloured sprinkles.
