How can someone convert from Atheist to Religious

That's it exactly. The way our brains are wired, emotion has primacy. We know this is true. If a person is emotionally enough invested in an idea, all the logic in the world is not going to help. Sad but true.

I guarantee one line that has not been uttered by an atheist is that Well, that individual was not a true athest.

Yeah, well, you can project whatever fantasies you want onto former atheists such as myself. As for me, I am a Christian by virtue of reason applied to experience. The pretense that atheism is the most logical and evidenced based position is pure bullshit.

I've said a variation of that about several fundamentalists, including Kirk Cameron, who have claimed to have once been atheists

Do tell.

I think you can make a logical argument for the existence of a generic god that you don't claim to know anything about - probably not a good argument but one based on logic nonetheless.

But you claim to be Christian. I'd love to hear a logic/evidence based argument for that - or for any other religion for that matter.

I didn't realize you were a former atheist too.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

If it wasn't the most evidence based position, surely there'd be much more evidence for the counter-part? Right now, not only is there not a lot, there's none. Oh and if you are going to say there is evidence, but it's just not taken seriously, or whatever, i'm going to call bullshit, because as an atheist i'm speaking on behalf of all other atheists in saying I would love to not stop "being" after death, and if "god" is the most logical, and evidence based position, I among about 90% of other Atheists would be the first to hop off and start believing. Nobody wants to die.
Which is better:

The "no true atheist" fallacy is strong with this thread. :p

I never said that, actually I don't really believe there's such thing as a "true atheist", which is why I tried to drive the focus off of just saying "Well they didn't really stop believing".

I think once you stop believing for a rational reason(as opposed to the small bunch who stop because they "hate god" or something), that you stop believing, and that's that.

I don't like the excuse for the reason, as well, because it's the same one christians use.

"You were a christian, and now you're an atheist? Well you were never a true christian then"
same as
"You were an atheist and now you're a christian? Well you were never a true atheist then."

True. The line was 'they never stopped believing', which translates roughly to 'they weren't really an atheist'. Dodgy
