That doesn't seem logical. But then again the UK has some weird regulations.

Here is the issue aractus. Sure that ad is is benign enough, but it opens the flood gates. What if next a somewhat objectable Muslim imam wants one? They can't deny him and give it too the cofe, then next a really funky cult wants an ad like say Scientology? So no and they can sue. So its better to just say no to everyone

I think it would drive people from the cinema. I watched it on a TV programme about this issue and felt like turning over. Not because it's objectionable, but because it is mind numbingly tedious,it just seems to go on and on and on. There was an ad for scientology that played on the TV earlier this year, utter bollocks, but at least it was entertaining.

That's not a valid comparison. For example, a law firm might take out radio ads, but it'd be highly unlikely they're going to advertise for radio stations in their office.

I see what your saying but the thing is the I don't think they want to put up something that may put people off re-attending. At home my finger was moving towards the switch over button when it came on, I think I've been trained by years of avoiding songs of praise etc to be quick on the button when religious propaganda rears its ugly head.

It's not going to stop anyone actually going to a cinema. There are much more annoying ads than that that get played in cinemas, and cinemas here play ads for 10 minutes, then they play previews for a further 10 minutes, then they play the feature. See they already know to protect their own interests by having the previews immediately precede the feature - because otherwise if people wanted to avoid the ads (by coming in late) they'll miss the previews as well.
