I think my family still have our original monkey island + monkey island 2 CD. I still have my original age of empires 2 + the conquerors CD that I got back in 2001. Up until 2006 I had my Simon the Sorceror 1 cd from my 7th Birhday, the first game I ever had. My real dad might even still have it.... or somewhere in the loft by my family. I don't even know for sure what happened to it to be honest. But wow, that was over 20 years ago now ![]() RE: Top 10 Nostalgic Video Games

Top 10 most nostalgic games for me personally.
These are not my favourite games necessarily, but my most nostalgic, in no particular order: 1. Simon the Sorceror 1 and 2. 2. Monkey Island 1 and 2. 3. Magic Carpet 1 and 2. 4. Battledrome. 5. Operation: Inner Space. 6. Ascendancy. 7. HeXen. 8. Age of empires 1. 9. Total Anhilation. 10 Warbreeds.
Myst/Riven FTW.

The original tomb raider is massively nostalgic for me because I only played it once, thought it was awesome but couldn't get past that damn sewer level with the rats.
One thing I have discovered: Playing nostalgic games over and over drains the games of nostalgia for me. Like, HeXen was always one of the most nostalgic games ever for me, as was Simon the Sorceror 1 and 2, but I've played those games so many times over now that they're barely nostatlgic for me anymore. Also age of empires 1 used to be my number 1 most nostalgic game after coming back to it after age of empires 2 for years.... but I've played aoe1 so much again now that it's no longer notalgic. Like, Starcraft and Dark Reign were very nostalgic RTS games for me because I played them a lot as a kid. Total Anhilation wasn't very nostalgic because I played it comparatively less... BUT then I went back and played Starcraft and Dark Reign even more for nostalgic reasons.... and now even though Total Anhilation was barely nostalgic, it's now massively nostalgic to me compared to Starcraft and Dark Reign, because I sucked the Nostalgia out of them by overplaying them. When I was growing up I was absolutely in love with arcades. It was when they were in that sweet spot of being significantly better that most games you could play at home. I'd spend hours and hours there, generally getting so good at the games that I could make 10p last half an hour or so. At that time, it was probably the most exciting thing in my life.
Even now, I feel that rush as I walk past an arcade, as my inner child gets all hopeful. Then I remember that arcades are totally shit now. I'm going to make that inner child happy by hopefully getting USF4 for Christmas, reliving the glory and mixing it with all the new characters I've never tried. Even without anyone else to play against, it's going to keep me amused. Akuma! Feel free to send me a private message.
