I bought a new cordless phone today because the base station on my old one broke. Made the mistake of throwing the old handset into the kitchen swing bin - one of the bigger ones. This was followed by a ton of kitchen waste/garbage. Now the batteries are running down and it emits 3 evenly spaced beeps every 30 seconds. It's driving me mad (it's one o'clock in the morning) but I don't want to empty the entire bin to get to it. Just gritting my teeth and putting up with it. Hope it stops soon.

Wtf? Then I read your comment and I was like "aha! a landline!" I didn't know people still use those. |
