But what  reason is there to have the empathy not  to rape and murder a girl?

It is the result of our evolutionary past. 

We evolved as a social species, where altruism, cooperation, reciprocity and empathy were part of our survival mechanisms.

Our closest cousins, the bonobo chimps, have many similar (but less developed) behaviors.

I would not do it because I don't want to get caught and face the repercussions. I think most people don't do this because of compassion for the girl and not wanting to do harm. I just need an answer to convince myself that it is "wrong" to do it other than the though of going to prison.

I'm going to take your question seriously, which is giving you a little more benefit of doubt then you probably deserve from the way you phrased your opening post.

What do you really get out of raping and murdering someone? A small and fleeting moment of joy or pleasure, and that's only if you are somebody who is pre-inclined to enjoy something like that. Compared to that you cause immense pain and suffering to the person who is raped and murdered, as well as immense pain and suffering to their loved ones. If you take it as a moral goal to cause the most joy, or the most happiness in the world, raping and murdering someone utterly tips the scale in favor of more suffering. In addition I believe there are long term negative effects on the rapist and murderer as well, such as the loss of humanity, or the loss of the ability to enjoy a regular sex life which means that even for that person it's an overall loss in pleasure for much of their remaining existence.

Compared to that if you are serious about having these inclinations, there are plenty of women in the BDSM community who would be happy to fufill a power play fantasy of yours.

Over the course of this year, I have lost faith that a god exists because of insufficient evidence and applying my skepticism to my religion that I followed for so many years. But I have a problem... I was talking to my two cousins and they were saying how they would rape and murder a girl and dispose of her. (They are atheists as well) I've been thinking a lot recently about this. Since I'm an atheist now, I'm starting to feel like raping and murdering a girl isn't necessarily

That one person's life is incredibly important to that person! And their family and friends.

If I have to explain to you why I wouldn't, I'd submit that it's you who are in need of a moral education.

But to elaborate a tad: if you're okay with doing that to someone else, what would you say to someone raping you before killing you?

Murder first, then rape. You don't need to hold them down so much and it's easier to concentrate on the job.

First off, you ignored that raping and murdering has negative effects on the rapist and murderer. Look up the biographies of serial killers and you are unlikely to find that they are a happy lot, or that they became happier after raping and murdering people. It's better for you if you don't even aside from fear of getting caught, which is something you'll live with your entire life.

What does that even mean, in the cosmic sense? Humans are important to use because we are humans, this is our reality. Human happiness is far more important to me then say, some lifeless asteroid, even if it's bigger on the 'cosmic sense' If you are saying you reject secular morality and humanism that is your prerogative but trying to equate Atheists with whiny, teenaged, misinterpretations of nihilism is sloppy and shallow and requires the ignoring of century of thought on secular morality, including that by actual philosophical nihilists. Also I think you are likely just trolling, but there you have it.
