Home on the range.......
December 19, 2015 at 9:44 am
Yet another example of irresponsible gun worshiping logic. Having no record at the time of purchase, and thinking nothing bad will ever happen because well "just because"......
We know about the girl accidentally shooting her instructor with the Uzi, and the other example of the former military guy wanting to help his PTSD buddy by using gun range shooting as "therapy". Add to that more stupid logic again that good people never hurt themselves or others because well "that will never happen to me"

Where have you heard this supposed logic of "I'll never hurt myself" in regards to handling a gun? Sure, I guess somebody totally untrained may have that mindset and really believe such a thing, but otherwise that is not the case. If you have ever had a firearms course or hunter safety course of any sort (which I somehow doubt) then you would know that the one point that instructors belabor is that if you mishandle a gun you will absolutely hurt or kill yourself or someone else. For these courses aimed at non-law enforcement users of guns (e.g. people at shooting range, hunters, etc.), this is covered exhaustively and then is put into practice via simulations with fake guns - at least this is the experience with courses I have had.
Yeah, it's horrible when someone does something as fucking asinine as giving a little girl an Uzi to shoot, or some shitty parent leaves a loaded gun out in the open for a kid to find and blow his own head off, but realize that people who responsibly own guns are equally as appalled when someone does something so markedly ignorant.

Sure, there are definitely people who don't need one and don't treat it with the deadly seriousness that is absolutely necessary to always stay safe. I think that anybody who owns a gun should have to have mandatory safety training, but that's another subject entirely. Anyway, given that about 1/3 of all Americans own a gun of some sort ( source), these incidences are occurring with a very, very small number of gun owners.

Bullshit, you stupidly think she set out to kill herself that day? So she deserved it? No? "Bad shit happens so do nothing"?
I don't think she set out to die, and yes lots of unlucky crap happens in life that you cannot avoid, a gun is one of those you can avoid. I am sure if someone went back in time and told her what was going to happen, most sane people would reconsider. Her rights, your rights nobody's rights are the issue. Most people do not understand that you cant simply buy one, and I am not talking about legality, I mean you cant simply buy one, most people should not have them and this is why they should not have them. Because most people like drunk drivers go in to it thinking they saw other people do it, they use it prior without harming themselves, and most do so without the risk training. The bullshit "safety" training isn't enough. A gun is a serious object to own and most owners suffer the same selection bias and sample rate error as drunk drivers.

Whine that it's other people's fault when idiots kill themselves. The idiot was 25 years old, a fully grown American adult. It's amazing that she managed to live that long without breaking her stupid neck.

I like to build guitars. If I were beaten to death by one, I'd hardly consider myself 'lucky'.

Boru The woman liked to shoot guns. She died shooting a gun. She shot herself while doing what she liked to do. If she had been doing housework she wouldn't have shot herself.
Do you beat yourself with guitars when you build them? If so put it on Youtube for our amusement.

I agree with the first sentence. The second? How many dead children are you willing to tolerate in the name of gun rights? I would submit that one is too many but we can negotiate on the number.
