The Christians Stole Most of Their Traditions from the Pagans

RE: The Christians Stole Most of Their Traditions from the Pagans
http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/tribes.html

Quote:Once a warrior king embraced 'Christianity' – an adoption of form and formality with little or no regard to content – the warrior aristocracy followed its king. Thus, for example, when Clovis accepted Christ as his new god, he compelled three thousand of his retainers to follow him into the baptismal font.

Among the common tribesmen religious allegiance was not an issue of conscience. This was not an age of individual opinion or preference. When the tribal leadership adopted a new god the tribe followed suit. Not to have done so would have been tantamount to rebellion. When Charlemagne insisted on baptism as the sign of submission, he punished with appalling barbarity any resistance, as when, in cold blood, he beheaded, in a single day, 4500 Saxons at Verden, in 782 AD.

Having adopted Christ as their new god, the warrior aristocracies forced the new faith on their peoples.

There are so many things that Christianity stole from other religions. Like Noah's Flood. It's a cheap copy of the Epic of Gilgamesh. And Jesus especially is a big copy from people like Horus, Mithra, Hercules, Krishna, Buddha, and the list goes on and on and on like the Energizer Bunny.

Just some fun stuff to consider, starr.

http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/philo.html

Quote:As it happens, we have an excellent witness to events in Judaea and the Jewish diaspora in the first half of the first century AD: Philo of Alexandria (c25 BC-47 AD).

Philo was an old man when he led an embassy from the Jews to the court of Emperor Gaius Caligula. The year was 39-40 AD. Philo clearly, then, lived at precisely the time that "Jesus of Nazareth" supposedly entered the world to a chorus of angels, enthralled the multitudes by performing miracles, and got himself crucified.

Philo was also in the right place to give testimony of a messianic contender. A Jewish aristocrat and leader of the large Jewish community of Alexandria, we know that Philo spent time in Jerusalem (On Providence) where he had intimate connections with the royal house of Judaea. His brother, Alexander the "alabarch" (chief tax official), was one of the richest men in the east, in charge of collecting levies on imports into Roman Egypt. Alexander's great wealth financed the silver and gold sheathing which adorned the doors of the Temple (Josephus, War 5.205). Alexander also loaned a fortune to Herod Agrippa I (Antiquities 18).

One of Alexander's sons, and Philo's nephews, Marcus, was married to Berenice, daughter of Herod Agrippa, tetrarch of Galilee and Peraea, 39-40. After the exile of Herod Antipas – villain of the Jesus saga – he ruled as King of the Jews, 41-44 AD. Another nephew was the "apostate" Julius Alexander Tiberius, Prefect of Egypt and also Procurator of Judaea itself (46-48 AD).

Much as Josephus would, a half century later, Philo wrote extensive apologetics on the Jewish religion and commentaries on contemporary politics. About thirty manuscripts and at least 850,000 words are extant. Philo offers commentary on all the major characters of the Pentateuch and, as we might expect, mentions Moses more than a thousand times.

Yet Philo says not a word about Jesus, Christianity nor any of the events described in the New Testament. In all this work, Philo makes not a single reference to his alleged contemporary "Jesus Christ", the godman who supposedly was perambulating up and down the Levant, exorcising demons, raising the dead and causing earthquake and darkness at his death.

And the excuses from the apologists will pour forth like bullshit in a stable full of diarrhea-smitten cattle!

No disputing that they predate Xtianity and Judaism and Islam...but I'm thinking that they themselves are just plagiarisms of an earlier religious movement amongst the people of the area at that time period...

Hmm, possibly. Basically all of the world religions from the past 2000 years are plagiarized religions from other cultures back further. But oh well, you can't do much since those people have "Faith."

So "Faith" = "Lack of imagination" Wink Shades

To wit....

"I'll just believe what everyone else does so I don't have to think..." Confused Fall

Sometimes I really do fear for humanity as a species... Confusedhock:

It's more like "with faith, I don't have to say 'i don't know' anymore." The funny thing about it, is that Christians love quoting the bible when Jesus states things about Faith even though some of them say that the bible is not literal. Why would that saying of Jesus be true, and other repulsive sayings not?
