When people at work complain and display negative characteristics, I am not negatively affected.

Rather, I am entertained.  I turn what could badly affect me into a positive.

Therefore, GROW THE FUCK UP.

Mate, why can't you turn your negativity into a positive here also?

Ok, so you're no psychopath. So, is your occasional display of callousness some kind of coping mechanism because you are deep down a sensitive individual? Imaginable. I can easily imagine that someone sensitive would, confronted with the horrors of the world, kind of try to turn himself into stone in order to remove the pain. But I'm just speculating, but curious.

I don't think you are a psychopath, but your behavior and lack of empathy might be a sign of sociopathy

Again I would have to point out that they asked the question in the first place, it's uncharacteristic behavior.

When do you stop being a cunt and start being a psychopath?

Are the two mutually exclusive?

It's an interesting one.

Again I would have to point out that they asked the question in the first place, it's uncharacteristic behavior for the condition.

Why wouldn't a typical psychopath not ask such a question?

But more importantly, what's a psychopath? DSM is silent on that one.

By the way, not saying Kitan is a psychopath. I also internally have some sort of indifference to the deaths of certain others ... not all the time though ... depends on how close they are to me as well.

RE: Is it wrong?
I imagine everyone has a sliding scale of grief over the news of deaths and such, depending on how close they are to the deceased.

I'd be very surprised if there was anyone who took the news exactly the same no matter who died. (Unless the reaction was to not care in all instances.)

What exactly a psycopath/sociopath is, and what the difference is, seems to be rather unclear to me. A lack of empathy seems to be part of it. I've heard them defined in lots of different ways. Of course, the difference between a psychopath and a murderer is the like difference between a paedophile and a child molester.

Psychopaths/sociopaths are typically known to be apathetic toward others in addition to being incredibly narcissistic.
I would assume such a person wouldn't question their own disregard for human life and especially wouldn't care to ask others for their thoughts, as they wouldn't care about their opinions to begin with, or they would pose the question in a much more vulgar tone with the express intention to offend people.

(Not saying Kitan has a 'disregard for human life', just speaking hypothetically)
