I'd be very surprised if there was anyone who took the news exactly the same no matter who died. (Unless the reaction was to not care in all instances.)
What exactly a psycopath/sociopath is, and what the difference is, seems to be rather unclear to me. A lack of empathy seems to be part of it. I've heard them defined in lots of different ways. Of course, the difference between a psychopath and a murderer is the like difference between a paedophile and a child molester.
As I understand it, the difference is that a sociopath wants to hurt you, while a psychopath doesn't care if he hurts you.
(Sorry for the derail, btw, someone needs to start a new thread)

If someone who is being honest about how he feels, especially if it means he is going against the grain, and if that attitude just happens to be negative, then again it should not in any way affect you.
When people at work complain and display negative characteristics, I am not negatively affected.
Rather, I am entertained. I turn what could badly affect me into a positive.
Therefore, GROW THE FUCK UP.
Your last sentence contradicts everything you say before it. If Quantum or anyone else is being honest about the way they feel, and if that attitude just happens to be about the way you feel, you should not be affected by it. Telling them to grow the fuck up belies the inference that you are. Thus the further inference is that you are likely not as honest with yourself about the way you feel as you might wish to think you are.
For the record, I am not affected by the news of another's death anymore either. I hear of mass shootings or beheadings, or even murders or accidents in the relatively mere singular, I think it's horrible and I can empathise with the victims in such nightmare situations, but then I get on with my day as though nothing happened. I've only ever cried at one funeral because it connected with me on a deeply personal level; and I've been dry-eyed at the funeral of a little girl who died only hours after being born. It doesn't make a person evil or socio/psychopathic or anything else other than human.

Um....Yes you can. I don't know on what planet you live on to think otherwise.

Again I would have to point out that they asked the question in the first place, it's uncharacteristic behavior. A psychopath like me won't really post like that, no, but a sociopath is quite different in that they are well aware of their lack of empathy and are also aware of it's caveats, and so have a much higher tendency to admit to it and even seek help.

You're aware that you're a psychopath, but you aren't aware of your lack of empathy?

You're not well aware of your empathy level?
Some people just aren't. And others are, but intentionally set out to be emotionless.

He's saying he's a psychopath. In order for him to acknowledge this, he must be quite aware of his lack of empathy surely.

I can attest to the fact that forum posts can be extremely upsetting. At times, a post has ruined my whole day.
Sure, you can blame me for being oversensitive, which I am. But saying words can't hurt is just untrue.

Words themselves are ephemeral and harmless. The intent behind the words, however, is very far from harmless. I could read from a book that says you will burn in hell and I would merely be quoting. That I'm of the opinion that you deserve such treatment reveals that you are less than nothing to me and in my mind I could crush you underfoot without hesitation. Between the words and my state of mind, I know which I'd find the more dangerous.
