Of course other things are lethal as well. But my point is mostly that guns deaths are more easily and more often caused by accidents. Especially around children and alcohol. I'd say that if not remove them completely there should at least be harsher regulations.
I can say it because we've studied it and determined it to be conclusively true. The difficulty of killing exists and is overcome before a person pulls the trigger. The beauty of a gun...in terms of lethality, is the quickness with which you can act after having overcome your internal objections...and the effectiveness with which a determined killer can end lives when he has a gun in his possession. In case of accidents...and the relative lethality of objects involved in accidents....there's an incredibly long list of things that will kill you quicker and deader on accident....but this hardly matters, as we don't...generally, talk about confiscating something from someone because they may one day be involved in an accident with that object. Otherwise we'd be confiscating everyone's cars before the fact.
The regulations are -already- harsh. We simply fail to enforce them. Take any given "gun accident" and it's almost certainly the case that the person involved could be charged with a felony, some felony - there are many...and felons...don't have a right to bare arms...or any other legitimate non-constitutional complaint as to why they should not be removed from them.

Sure, but that happens over the course of a lifetime. Pulling a trigger lasts much shorter and kills instantly.

The person involved in either is no more or less dead....and it's still a fact that obesity is more lethal in this country than some other douche with a gun is. Our prosecutors are public servants. You can probably work out, from there, how we might get them to do their jobs......threaten their jobs for failing to do their jobs. I think that this is -bound- to be more successful than stoking the fears of nutballs (often enough with guns - as in the story in the OP) by proposing something unconstitutional...and even ignoring that, difficult to justify by law.

That's not entirely true, what these pictures are trying to say. There's been a few examples of atheists who shoot up prayer meetings and stuff like that, communist dictators who ban religion.

That's really missing the point. People don't shoot up prayer meetings and ban religion "because they don't believe in god," which is what's required in order to 'do something because of atheism.' Stalin didn't ban religion because he was an atheist, he instituted a state religion with himself as the head because he was a megalomaniacal sociopath. You can't perform an act based on a simple lack of a belief, it doesn't make any sense.

Yes that's true, certainly about communist dictators.
However I think it refers more to the Everyman,
and how the religious are far more likely to be movitated to violence through extremist religious views,
than the average Atheist is, over his Atheist views.
