American gun laws summed up in memes

@ those who responded, some of you made good and valid comments, some as usual still lack enough brains to be reasonable. However all of you thought I was saying something different than what I said because one person got it wrong and the rest jumped on the train without thinking.  no gun has ever pulled it's own trigger and I should not be penalized because others misuse guns. Cars are the # one killer in this country, we still haven't got rid of them, because people drive them while drunk or using drugs. People use them as weapons and those who kill or injure people will using a cell phone are criminals IMO, lives lost because someone couldn't wait to text, this is selfish behavior. For those who said that there is no fear of our country being overthrown from within, that's exactly how most fall, defenseless citizens not able to counter their egotistical government. Let me remind all of you that police are killed in countries where guns are band, the criminals will get their weapons period. Listen, I'm having a hard time typing with one hand and the pain medicine I'm taking, so I want be responding to this post but, do not let that stop the comments  as if that would stop anyone here.

If the government wanted to wipe you out I don't care how many guns you own, you are going down. They could order a drone strike or an air strike or launch a missile in to your living room, do you really think they give a flying fuck whether you have a gun?

Very dumb meme. Perpetuating the idea that gun control means ban all guns...which not only is false, but alienates people who would be for gun control measures if they researched the topic any further than dumb quotes from Canadian bloggers.

Sure they could possibly make a martyr of you, but you are not going to convince me that people need to own guns to protect themselves from the government. I will listen to arguments about using guns to protect yourself against criminals or in the case of hunting, but using it to fight off the US government is ridiculous you may as well be armed with slingshot.

It's not an issue of matrydom, it's an issue of attrition.  The goal of assymetric warfare (as all rebellions are) is to get the enemy to commit more than he can afford to a target that is not worth what he expends upon it.

I don't -make- arguments about defending myself either form criminals or from the government, or even for hunting.  There's no need. You have absolutely no reason to restrict or remove my access to guns. Nada. It's that simple. Take guns away from felons, already part of our laws. Take guns away from crazy people, already part of our laws. I've offered a view of the stats at play. People who want to commit suicide are 60% of our "gun problem", and the remaing 40% are cops or robbers. I am neither. My guns are involved in neither. I agree that both the suicide problem..and the cops and robbers problem..ought to be addressed.

Gun control will address neither, and so the stated goal will not be achieved. If you want to address that problem, if the problem is in fact avoidable deaths...and not that people own guns, something else has to be done. If the problem we want to address is that people own guns, and not avoidable death...then sure...gun control (or gun bans) can solve that "problem".
