I was dead when that happened.

Where were you when Challenger Exploded?

I don't remember where I was when it happened. I didn't find out about it until later when I got to school. I remember I had a philosophy seminar, and the professor devoted the hour to exploring the question, "What makes a death dignified?" I even remember my answer.

Get out you spook. Out, Out, Out. The power of reason commands you!
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

OK, what was your answer?

I was a Junior in High School. We were going to watch the launch in science class. I remember after it happened, my science teacher turned the television off, and then ran out of the room to go tell other people what happened. I remember telling my best friend about it later. She cried about it. I didn't, but I'm pretty sure I came close to it. I'm not much of a crier.

Some bohunk about dying while in the course of a project that has high status in society. ![]() (January 28, 2016 at 11:58 am)Jörmungandr Wrote:(January 28, 2016 at 11:27 am)mh.brewer Wrote: Talk about leaving people hanging. OK, what was your answer? Sounds like a better question is "What makes life dignified?". But that's a little to deep for me.

I was also in elementary school. Young enough to not really understand much except that I was sad.
I remember I was at home when Mt St Helens erupted. I was only 5, so it was very scary because my parents were very alarmed. We lived far enough away that we only got a little ash, but we had family living much closer. On a slightly related nite, half my family were extras in that movie, lol.

Where did you live? Did they collect ash? I had a business trip to Butte MT shortly after. They told a lot of ash fallout stories.

I remember that eruption. I also remember people taking advantage of it and selling ash from it afterwards.
