You saying he's pushing his atheism on people because he wrote books? Basically, because he's not in the closet with it? Books are an interesting tool. Some become influential, some are just stories. I wonder how religion would be, if they didn't have a special book that got pushed on people... (Perhaps it's best not to throw rocks at your neighbour's place, when you have a glass roof?) Basically, because he's not in the closet with it? So in essence, you're saying that Dawkins should not be trying to influence people. He should keep his beliefs to himself? Why? (February 25, 2016 at 9:21 pm)scoobysnack Wrote: I've seen a lot of people pushing his books on this forum, but that's just my personal experience. People on the forums "pushing his books" is not HIM pushing atheism on anyone. People are free to purchase or not purchase his books just as atheists are free to purchase or not purchase William Lane Craig's publications. Basically, because he's not in the closet with it? But doesn't necessitate that he goes around trying to force people to become atheists. Quote:He can be considered the high priest of the anti-God establishment. Quote:Of course I mean the previous sentence as semi sarcastic, but seriously he is someone that atheists push as a voice that speaks for them. But, again, writing books that some people like and share doesn't mean that HE goes around pushing atheism. If that's the criteria you're using than JK Rolling is "Pushing witchcraft" because she wrote books about a boy-wizard.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

The fact that many recognize him as being influential, means he must influence someone. He can be considered the high priest of the anti-God establishment. It was the criteria in the article to make the list and he made it to number one. Quote:To make it on SuperScholar’s list of influential living atheists, an atheist can’t merely disbelieve in God but also must actively encourage others to disbelieve in God. But even that isn’t enough to make our list. Bill Maher and Penn & Teller, for instance, use their prominence as entertainers to promote atheism. But they do so mainly as popularists, not as scholars attempting to make a considered case against theism and for atheism. Pretty sure that isn't Dawkins, nor is it pertinent to the topic. Drunkpost much? Let me know when Dawkins has a TV show pushing atheism on you. Until then, you should probably think more and post less. Your weak mind is showing. Dude I don't want to fight with you. I really couldn't care less about what Dawkins says or writes about. You're making a mountain out of an ant hill. Ok, i'll let you know when his tv show starts up. |
