Concerned that an alien race will come and ironically domesticate "society as a whole"...or......what?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That was an analogy at worst, a thought experiment at best. You seem unable to grasp those.
I'm concerned with our future. I want us to stick around for as long as possible.

Hehe, cmon I'm just ribbing you. Concerned for society as a whole in what manner, with regards to what? I was asking for clarification on the previous statement. Future, staying power, sure...I get that.

Well, I want us to take care of the planet so we don't make a hell for ourselves. I want education and rational thought - the more, the better. Those in turn will yield great technology and science, if the past few centuries/decades have something to teach us. With these two tools we can make life better, more comfortable, longer, and so on.

-and that relates to in vitro meat? All of that sounded swell to me as well, ofc.

I don't know Rhythm, you should tell me that. After all, you've gotten us on this tangent, not me.

See, we're aboard the same ship again. There was a claim, some pages ago, as to an impressive bill of goods that in vitro could deliver(as related to us by their ceo, no less...important shit that we needed to hear, lol)...and since then, I feel as though we haven't been able to flesh out how that's going to occur exactly, or it's impact on livestock production. I see hype about a potted meat product that's going to solve the worlds ills and right some wrong done to the cows. I think it's just going to be tasty, nutritious spam, I already love spam. The idea that it's more than just a processed food product is a tangent, all to itself.

Depends on the crowd and mood, I'm sure. The ethics of food production aren't exactly pleasant in the first place.

False dichotomy. Compost is a thing. Green manure is a thing. Things that many farms use successfully.
You have a lot of false dichotomies in your argument, actually.
Addressing False dichotomy #2:
Ceasing to eat dead animals does not mean we would stop needing any farm animals. You paint it as one or the other. Last time I addressed this, you just ignored this point. Repeatedly.
Addressing False dichotomy #3:
Dairy cows and goats, and chicken laying eggs do not require killing to get food from them, and their shit can still be used as fertilizer! We don't need the number of existing food animals to provide fertilizer to other farms. Literally tons of it is never used. We could reduce our farm animal population by 3/4 (just to dairy and eggs) and still have plenty of animal based fertilizer to feed humanity. Particularly since a lot less food would be going back onto animals that are raised only for meat.
Addressing False dichotomy #4:
Even if humans stop eating the dead dairy animals and egg laying chickens who die of old age, the other options do not only include "throwing their carcasses in a ditch". Humans have pets that require meat. Or humans can continue to use the smaller number of dead animals as additional food, without raising expressly for that purpose.
Summary:
We don't need to use animal products (even oil, which is an animal product) to farm. But we still can, at a much reduced rate, and still have all the animal products we require.
I realize that you are highly invested in this way of thinking because it is your lively hood. I also realize from previous experience that you will just strawman me, or more likely, not even address these points directly (again), but I wanted to put it in here for other people to read.
P.S. I have no problem with people eating meat.
Looking for better alternatives to current food situations, however, is a really great thing that many people are doing.
