The number one reason not to follow Christianity

Jesus was cursing the tree because it was doing exactly what he created it to do--not bear fruit during that season.  So instead of making it bear fruit all year round to prove a lesson he instead decides to curse it for doing exactly as he fucking created it to do.

The tree wasn't bearing fruit because he created it not to bear fruit.  But instead of taking the blame himself, he blames the goddamn tree (In this case, I suppose it would be a god damned tree)  Much like he blames people for not believing in him, when he could have made it so that his position as god was not in doubt.
What makes you think that just because Mark 11 says the figs were not in season means the tree should not have had figs on it?

That changes abso-fucking-lutely nothing.

Rather than making it bear fruit, he curses it.  What a guy!

Healing a barren tree otta be a snap compared to regrowing limbs or fixing congenital blindness or raising the dead, or making Roseanne Barr attractive . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

The tree did nothing to deserve that... in Mark's account it's mentioned that figs weren't in season. So it's not like the poor thing could help it.

And they say Jesus is loving and forgiving...

This is the #1 reason not to be a Christian?

What if your neighbor cuts down a tree and does not give you a reason, does he then become a 'bad' person to you?

Jesus cursed this tree to illustrate a point about 'fruitless' followers. It was a warning to not 'be a follower' of Christ and not do anything.

Just incase you still don't understand Jesus killed the tree so people could understand what would happen to them if they say they are one thing (Christian/fig tree) and not produce the 'fruit' of what they say they are supposed to be.

The number one reason not to be a Christian is because it's untrue. The same reason as not be a scientologist, Mormon, pagan etc etc etc.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.

Again Sport-tress the point of cursing the tree was to draw parallels between it and people who do not 'bear fruit.' Is it your preference the Jesus 'Make you Bear Fruit?"

This would be preferable to being cursed and tortured for eternity for not meeting Jesus' expectations.

Just more evidence that this jesus shit is just a re-hash of OT nonsense.

The stories in the Bible are ancient ethnocentric Middle Eastern Jewish religious fairy tales.  They are not intended to make sense to anyone else.  Would a 16th Century Eskimo have understood the ethnocentric Arabian religious fairy tale in the Koran?  Do North Koreans give a damn about the Hindu religion deities?  Do Swedes care about Venezuelan gangster gods?  Did the Spanish Catholics worship the Aztec and Incan deities?  Did the Belgians care about the Congolese religions? So why would anyone today actually believe ancient ethnocentric Middle Eastern Jewish religious fairy tales?

Christianity is a more marketable form of Judaism. Once St. Paul and others decided to turn most of the OT into metaphors instead of literal stories, the stories transcended Jewish culture. Though I think I can say with almost entire certainty that the original writers did not intend for any of that to happen
