How many feminists does it take to change a lightbulb?
12.
One to screw it in, one to excoriate men for creating the need for illumination, one to blame men for inventing such a faulty means of illumination, one to suggest the whole "screwing" bit to be too "rape-like", one to deconstruct the lightbulb itself as being phallic, one to blame men for not changing the bulb, one to blame men for trying to change the bulb instead of letting a woman do it, one to blame men for creating a society that discourages women from changing light bulbs, one to blame men for creating a society where women change too many light bulbs, one to advocate that lightbulb changers should have wage parity with electricians, one to alert the media that women are now "out-lightbulbing" men, and one to just sit there taking pictures for her blog for photo-evidence that men are unnecessary.
I think my joke telling skills improved significantly since our last exchange.
Pool, have you ever seen Portlandia's 'feminist bookstore' skits? Something tells me you would find them quite amusing.
It is a 15 minute compilation so enjoy at your leisure!

Sorry LFC, I know I lowered myself there.....but, as a joke, it is quite funny. :-)
Oh, I don't discriminate against a good funny joke, no worries. I'm not one of those, "It's NEVER funny to joke about ______!" My favorite comedian of all time is Louie CK, and he does more rape jokes than any comedian I know of, haha. Funny is funny. [emoji41]

I wholeheartedly agree. Shaming women for being housewives, shaming men for making women happy, these subtle misogynistic people go unnoticed far too often.
Who the fuck has ever shamed a woman for being a housewife in this thread or on this forum?
As for the other part, I don't want to speak for all women but I don't need anyone man or woman to make me happy, true happiness comes from within. I would never shame a man for going out of his way to try to make a woman happy so long as he's actually doing it for her. A neat thing you can do is get to know someone and actually ask them what they want. I know I sure as fuck don't want to be a housewife. It's not even because I don't like housewife duties; I love cooking and cleaning. I probably love cleaning a little too much, but that's getting off track. I just don't want to be a housewife because my work makes me feel validated as a person. Staying at home being treated like a princess by a guy who thinks I watch tv all day and the baseboards scrub themselves. Yuck. Thinking most women want that is naive to a ridiculous degree. Thinking even most women in India want that is ridiculous. Children shouldn't be raised to believe that any specific traits will define their value as adults. They should be raised to believe that working hard at whatever makes them happy defines their value, they define their own value. In India little girls are raised to believe their value is dependent on being a good housewife. It's not to say people specifically tell them that and I think that's why you're confused. It's that children learn so so much more than just what people tell them. They're a lot smarter than people give them credit for and they are paying attention. They always are.

Be wary folks, you can't even call a woman beautiful without risking being a woman hater.
I don't know if I should be laughing at this level of stupidity or feeling sad for humanity and crying in despair.
Tell me this Irrational, last day as I was walking down the street and I plucked a beautiful flower. You know, I could've embraced the flower for facilitating pollination, I could've embraced flowers for being edible and helping fill some people's stomach, I could've appreciated the flower for freshening the air - instead I chose to be oh such a shallow asshole and plucked a flower just because it was beautiful,is there something wrong with me Irrational?
Am I being discriminated against flowers, Irrational?
Am I objectifying flowers, Irrational?
Women are like flowers. We like flowers because they are pretty. We like them because they smell nice. We never have to stop to bother wondering if the flower has wants or needs or desires or thoughts. We just like them because they're so durn pretty. Every morning we put them in a fresh vase with clean water and we say "you're a good flower, you're so pretty" because someone once said flowers are healthy when we say nice things to them. We don't really know for sure if it's true because we're pretty sure flowers are incapable of thinking, but gosh they sure are pretty.

What kind of response were you expecting to your pointing out the historical suffrage of women not being able to vote?
Pool you do realize that those wars fought by men were also started by men in a world ruled by men, right?

(May 16, 2016 at 7:21 am)LadyForCamus Wrote: Pool, your strange point of view on this issue is becoming clear to me now. You seem to have created some kind of warped straw man argument for yourself just so that you have something to pound your chest over. You're going on this, "who gets abused worse: men or women? Because believe me, it's MEN!" Crusade, when the actual problem we should be working to solve is, how do we as a society do everything in our power to advocate for ALL PEOPLE regardless of gender (race, sexuality, ect) having equal rights under the law as human beings. Frankly, making it a competition between men and women is childish, and completely missing the bigger moral question. Human rights should apply to all humans...hence the phrase...So, I'll ask it again: why do you take all of this so damn personal?
I don't understand your logic at the slightest. You countered my argument(that feminism is pointless and all claims of feminism had been false, including rape statistics.) with an argument(that historically speaking women were oppressed and men are privileged by showing an example of right to vote) which is unrelated to my original argument but I countered it anyway with another argument(that men were never privileged by showing an example of war) you then proceeded to conclude that we should work towards solving these problems (that existed in the past) regardless of gender and that it is pointless as well as childish to show lists of suffrage of men or women.
I don't get it.
As to answer your last question as to why I take this personal, I'm a man, a male by gender, it annoys me to see feminists generalize my whole gender as potential rapists, our whole gender as privileged that practically gets everything handed to them, it annoys me to see them not only form an idea that complimenting a women for her beauty is women hating but then proceeding to propagate this idea,it annoys me to see that these same feminists claim that women ARE oppressed and men the oppressors..
.I could go on but I regress.
I think you mean digress

Yeah, I mean, it feels like Pool has all these preconceived notions about what women think and feel, but this is EXACTLY what he hates about male stereotypes.

Yeah, but they would never have gotten into all that mess if it weren't for those pesky women, with their beauty, brains, boobs and blood (from this day forth, we will refer to these traits as the 4 B's).
