I told my husband it looked to me like she did more than dump over the braziers, but that she actually commanded the flame. He said no, the braziers had either hot wax or oil under the coals (a common enough thing IRL, I myself have made the wax kind), and that was enough to cause the flames to spread quickly.
I disagree. I still think it looked like she commanded the flame. If you watch the Dothraki run, and she follows them with a turn of her head, and the flames follow her lead. I honestly think we are seeing a new bit to her superpower there, that she is not only unburnt by flame, but ruler of it as well.
Watch her at 3:44 as the flames climb the pillars with unwarrented rapidity, and again at 3:48, where the flames RACE after one of the Khals as she follows him with a turn of her head. Edited to add, lastly at 4:10, check out the ROARING noise after she pushes the final Brazier at Khal Moro and the fire literally rushes at him like a living thing. It sounds a bit like a dragon roar, and is not part of the music.

I think she pushed the flames higher and faster, somehow. I think the speed of the flames is supposed to tell the audience about this new deveopment. Mutant superpower indeed!

I hadn't considered that. Good observation. Me thinks you may be right.

Lol. Yeah, well - she's already fire-proof and apparently doesn't need to breathe either, so she may as well have other hidden powers...

GRRM made a big deal back when Season 1 ended about Targaryens not being immune to fire, and that the birth of her dragons was a one-time magical event. I guess the show feels differently.

Well, the show is an adaptation, not a recreation, and has had some pretty big changes from the books already. I take it as it is, and love them both.
And since Martin hasn't got the next books out, we don't even know if this is a change from the books. For all we know, she develops this stuff later. It wouldn't be the first time MartinHE said one thing, but another thing turned out to be true in the books, either.
In any case, like my kids grade school teachers used to say, you get what you get and you don't throw a fit, lol. Not that you are throwing a fit, but I see some people online are. With adaptations, people need to learn to enjoy it for what it is.
As for me, Mutant superpower Danny, hell yeah!

The best thing about this episode is - that wasn't a body double.

Clarke said in an interview that it was her in this scene.
Clarke wants everyone to know she did not use a body double
My husband said as he watched last night, that's not a body double. Her bewbs are slightly uneven (in a lovely way, may I add!), and he recognized that slightly upturned nipple right away.

Lol... I also noticed the slight asymmetry in her... erm... mammalian protuberances, but I figured that with 7 mill an episode they can afford digital effects guys with attention to detail.
Funny - I thought Emilia Clarke refused to do nude scenes, because she wanted to be known for her acting. Well, I guess that didn't work out...
