RE: Game of Thrones Season 6 Discussion [SPOILERS WITHIN]
May 30, 2016 at 2:50 am
Wow, loved this episode! It didn't pack the emotional punch of Hold the Door, but I still got feels during all the Sam and Gilly scenes. Love Sam's mom and sis, even his little bro isn't the dick his father is. Sam is growing some balls, even though his father tries to keep him down.
The coldhandsIS Benjen Stark reveal was nice. Still confused as to wth Bran is going to do, but I suppose we are supposed to feel confused at this point.
Arya watching the play, then talking with the actress was the best though. The levels going on in that conversation were DEEP.
And I KNEW she wasn't going full on faceless man! She got too much of a mind of her own to become a mindless killer. But now she's got a whole assassins guild after her, that's no good. That showdown will be interesting, eventually.
The Sparrows winning Tommen and Margery over, wow. Irony much? And then Jaime's being sent to help that old murderer Walder Frey fight the Tulleys? I get the feeling that won't go as planned at ALL.
Also, possible opening for Lady Stonehearts appearance still possible!!
Danny onthe dragon at the end. Damn good special effects with that dragon. I had chills. I want to ride a dragon, too! lol I want to see Tyrion on a dragon, like he dreamed when he was a boy. So excited that things are poised to actually move forward!
Overall, really good episode. As usually lately, I already can hardly wait til next week!
(P.S, I think the show is actually really doing marvelous, this is one of the best season ever, so far!)

I can't help but notice the absence of Ironborn in this episode. I guess they'll be stuck building the 1000 ships for Daenerys - for the next few years, what with it being pre-industrial era, them living on a bunch of rocky islands, and their best ships just stolen...
I don't know, but by the look of that Dothraki army and that dragon - and considering the fact, that Khalesi is apparently unaware of their enterprise - they don't have all that much time, before she finds her own fleet and lays waste to Westeros.
I can't wait for the last episode of the last season - after the whole story plays out,, in the last scene Euron Greyjoy runs in out of breath and exclaims: "Daenerys Targaryen... :huff: :puff: :gasp:... I brought you... :wheeze: :gasp: :heave: A thousand ships... :pant: :pant: :pant:... F*ck - I'm too late, aren't I?"

I just read the dumbest popular fan theory on reddit.
It claims that Tyrion is actually Rhaego Targaryen, the stillborn 'stallion who will mount the world' son of Dany and Khal Drogo. The idea is that Mirri Maz Duur switched them through some time travelling magic shit.
Here is the textual evidence put forth:
1) Mirri Maz Duur describes Dany's child as "Monstrous," Mirri Maz Duur finished for him... "Twisted. I drew him forth myself. He was scaled like a lizard, blind, with a stub of a tail and small leather wings like the wings of a bat." Tyrion is regularly described as a "twisted little demon," or a "twisted little monster" and his appearance at his birth was described to him: "Your head was monstrous huge, we heard, half again the size of your body, and you had been born with thick black hair and a beard besides, an evil eye, and lion's claws. Your teeth were so long you could not close your mouth, and between your legs were a girl's privates as well as a boy's," and he was said to have " a stiff curly tail like a swine's."
2) Mirri Maz Duur and Quaithe also talk about reversing and cycling time:
"When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east... Then he will return, and not before." ~ Mirri Maz Duur
"To go north, you must go south. To reach the west, you must go east. To go forward you must go back" ~ Quaithe
When the baby is born, Mirri Maz Duur tells us the baby had been dead for years. "When I touched him, the flesh sloughed off the bone, and inside he was full of graveworms and the stink of corruption. He had been dead for years."
The infant Dany birthed was actually Joanna's infant, and Tyrion is actually the Stallion who Mounts the World.

I love fan theories. They can make even the most crackpot shit sound cool.

Another fine episode...
Coldhands, finally makes an entrance! and, as many expected, it's Benjen!! Not as much of room to hide that in the show as there is in the books. A half-turned wight, with a last minute save by the children of the forest? Why did they save him in particular, though? Stupid Bran knew they were on to him, but failed to see Benjen? tsk tsk tsk... sooo not ready!
Also... how many wights did Benjen have to take out with melee attacks? 3? 4?... I was under the impression that Hodor held back many more...
Didn't quite get the geography of how Sam gets to his father's place from the narrow sea.... but oh well.... when things go a bit askew of the well thought out books.... weird things happen... who cares?!
It was nice to see Sam take Heartsbane -- what for, if he's going to Old Town? beats me!
Arya fails her first mission after reintegration? hmmm.... well A girl is no more.... A girl is Arya, of house Stark. Time to go home and prick some people with Needle! BUHAHAHA.... girl, get back in training... you're even less ready than Bran.
Daenerys finds Drogon, finally!! Damn kids, always getting lost!
Nice speech, but, if I recall correctly, the dothraki were not keen on crossing the sea.... not at all.... zero keen, actually. Now... just because the Unburnt is riding a dragon, they're more that wiling to jump in the sea?! hmmmmmm... that speech wasn't that encouraging... but the thought of a dragon on your tail may do wonders in terms of motivation!
The plot thickens on Riverrun... Sansa is asking them for help to fight the Boltons.... But the Freys are already giving them some headaches and now Jamie is on his way...
HAHA.... poor Edmure... can't do nothing right...
Could the army from the Vale lend a hand? They are just next door, after all... but show writers tend to forget those details...
Finally, the faith claims another victim... the kid king.
You know?.... back in the days when kings were a thing, kid kings would yield to their uncles/cousins, until they became old enough to properly rule. Kid kings were never given that much power... even if their consort queen was of age. Bonus: consort queens (or kings) were not actual rulers... they're just consorts - there to provide an heir. Gotta love how Hollywood has romanticized this role and elevated it to a proper ruler...
Missing plots...
- Dorne - the sand snakes should be up to something... but what? how will that work out? Haven't seen them in a while...
- Bolton - give him 20 good men and no army will stand in his way! Should work again and again... as long as the incoming armies are not learning from each other.
- Ironborn - Some are building ships.... some are sailing ships... where to, I wonder...
- Jon and Sansa - getting ready to reclaim Winterfell, I guess... but also asking Riverrun for help. Maybe they should use Littlefinger-transport... that guy gets around faster than a raven!

He'll be a maester of the Night's Watch. And Heartsbane is Valyrian steel...
The plot line I'm most interested in is Brienne, all by her lonesome, traipsing through the Riverlands. What, or who, could await her there?
Also, Brynden Tully has a Frey army on his doorstep. He can't be fucking around north of the Twins. (How would he even get through the Twins with the Walder there, collecting taxes and making heirs?)
I bet the Knights of the Vale might look a tad more shiny and new and helpful to ol' Sansa when (if) Brienne gets back with the bad news...

As did I. This season has been churning out gripping television which I'd be plowing through much more quickly if it were in book form.

Anyone else get the feeling the older actress could have a different level/role within the institution of the faceless men? The waif and the man we see her interact with in her training don't strike me as very strategic. The actress might represent a more senior policy and ruling level of the organization. It could be that they too desire a different result for Arya than that of "faceless minion". We'll see.

I'm also eager to see how this plays out. Could Jaime's bond with Briene and contempt for the head sparrow and his son get him to change allegiance? (Probably not.)

Can Dany ever play a part in a collaboration with the Jon and Tyrion, as well as with more narrowly focused players like Arya or up and coming power Bran? Or must she always be supreme and is that really any obstacle for a fitting resolution to the series?

The best by far and at least partially because we've all been waiting for any progress in the storylines beyond where were left by the books.

Sam now has a Valyrian steel sword - second in the Night's Watch? He needs to scamper back up to the wall with that thing, not go to Oldtown and become a maester.
Arya is gonna skewer that girl. She's going to come try to kill Arya and Arya is going to stitch her up proper with her needle Wonder what's going to happen to her now that she's probably leaving the House of Black and White...
Dany found Drogon, now the other dragons can FINALLY be released! About damned time!
Margaery is one smart cookie. She's playing the game of thrones like she was born to it. Don't know if she was the one to convince Tommen to take to the Faith Miliant or if it was all the doing of the High Sparrow. He's such an asshole. He needs to be killed.
Jaime has been sent away? Too bad for him.
Cersei is definitely too big for her breeches, something bad is going to happen to her for sure. She's far too arrogant for her own good.
The Cold Hands is new to me, as a non-book-reader (who is still reading the books) so no comment there.
Want more Jon and Sansa.
Want more Brienne.
Want more Tyrion.
