This is semi-true. But it's not the full truth. It can be said that US-Israel would be thrilled for Assad to be overthrown and anti-hizbollah government to form. And it can be said that US-Israel supported the wrong people, and wrong way AFTER the uprising which at the end back lashed against them. And it can be said that US supported an organization that outwardly claims to be moderate but in reality formed the crazy non-moderate organization with the funding from US and it's allies.
Don't mix up all that stuff to belittle this fact. It was hijacked by US and this was what Iran and Hezbollah always meant. They always say it started out as a revolution by people but then it was quickly hijacked.
There is no doubt Iran and Hezbollah are wrong to support Assad. But he is the lesser of the evils, but being the lesser of evils, doesn't always mean there isn't alternative.
In this situation, Iran and Hezbollah did sacrifice principle for their interest. But show me who stoke to principles all the way through?
No one has so far. Everyone at the end goes for their interest and end up sacrificing universal principles for them.
No matter what democracy is or freedom, even if that was the goal, and there was no ulterior motive to attack Hezbollah or cut off supplies to them, and that being the primary goal...was it worth all the blood, the refugees, the country being destroyed?
