In gaming, my subscribing to David Sirlin's ruthless Play to Win competitive gaming philosophy seems to be rather controversial.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Not accepting something can exist despite contradictions, apparently.
Literally all drugs should be legalized. I'm not talking about cocaine in vending machines, but the fact that something's illegal obviously isn't stopping people from doing it. Shit, we can't even keep drugs out of prisons. If we encouraged people to get help and used all the money that's currently being used to incarcerate perpetrators of victimless crimes to educate and regulate the drugs instead, we'd have a much freer society.
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.

I think things are always more dangerous and happen more rampantly when they're stigmatised.
In The UK, we're prudish with alcohol and sex when it comes to teenagers. We basically flat tell teenagers "you must not drink! You must not have sex!" as if we think that's going to stop them. What does a rebellious teenager do? They go binge drink among their own in a hidden dark corner of the park, and have sex with absolutely no knowledge of protection or consent. We have the highest teen binge drinking rates and teen STD rates in Western Europe, because we're incapable of talking to our kids about "taboo" things instead of educating them.
"Adulthood is like looking both ways before you cross the road, and then getting hit by an airplane" - sarcasm_only
"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie
Taboo actively creates perversion.

Besides, alcohol abuse is much, much more common amongst middle age middle class people than it is amongst teens. Good to know that trends actually seem to suggest alcohol abuse, and indeed alcohol consumption per se amongst teens is falling. One of the universities I used to work at actually closed their union bar because of lack of demand. Figure that shit out, wouldn't have happened when I was an undergrad. Love atheistforums.org?
