I mean, it's not unfair at all really. AF isn't a site that is related to work, so accessing it from work will likely violate work policies. It astounds me that people think they have a right to access personal websites whilst at work. You're being paid to work, not browse forums.

We have a perfectly good mobile site; if you want to access AF at work and not do it on corporate computers using a corporate connection, use your phone. I still wouldn't recommend doing that unless you're doing it doing work-mandated free time (i.e. at lunch).

You probably have a fair shot at collecting unemployment, fuzzy; Especially if there wasn't a pattern of reprimands/write-ups. It wouldn't be much, but you wouldn't have to blow through your savings quite as fast or be without income at all. It definitely decreases the odds of any passive negativity directed towards you when prospective employers inquire into your job history. Plus, you'd just be sticking it to your former employer in general.

Yeah, Thena . . . thanks . . . I'll get busy on that Monday.  The HR director promised me that if I applied for unemployment, she would approve it, despite the fact that I resigned.  (Sometimes a resignation will make you ineligible for unemployment.)  
   I'm busy sending out job applications and resumes.  I'll keep you guys updated!

I was always under the impression that resigning makes collecting unemployment impossible, but it probably works more towards your favor during future job searches, at any rate. 

If HR is somehow willing able to make good on their promise, great. 
If not, I suppose it would be best to just drop the matter and move on, as you mentioned earlier.

I don't know American laws on that matter, but in Europe you're allowed to access non work related websites unless your employer explicitly states that this is not allowed. In which case, and only in which case, it's reason to take offense.

Tiberius is correct, actually, for most American businesses.  And the lawyer that I spoke to mentioned it - - even though the boss did not list it as a cause for letting me go, she probably should have.  The HR people would have respected it as a reason, rather than "she doesn't fit in with this office".  So my experience really should be a decent warning - - don't access AF from a work computer!  Use the phone, and if you want to be safe, only during breaks.
