the boss checked my computer history and saw AF

You have my sympathies. Chalk it up to live and learn and move on, up.

Don't know about KS but in NE you can get unemployment if you quit/resign. Difference is the waiting period is longer.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Sure, browsing websites is against rules, but does it really warrant firing based on a single incident for someone with an otherwise spotless record? No warning, no second chance? For a long standing employee?

If so I find that pretty disturbing.

Ouch. That sucks! I'm sorry you lost your job and I hope they help you find an even better one. Yea...I live in South Georgia and I work at an elementary school so I only ever post from my phone. Wouldn't ever even attempt to access AF from work. Again, I'm sorry about your job that really sucks. Group Hug

In the UK you would invoke an employment tribunal and claim "constructive dismissal" where your manager would have to justify her actions in front of an independent mediator.

Unless you haven't worked at the company for minimum 2 years, then you can be summarily dismissed without explaination. That 2 year period is waived for cases of alleged racism or disability discrimination . . . . .
Fuck I'm getting bored just writing this.

Holy SHIT, Fuzzy, I'm so sorry!!! This is fucking ridiculous! ? It's horrible that this is STILL people's perception of atheism...baby eating, devil worshiping freaks, the lot of us...UGH...I'm so angry for you right now. Is there anything you can do to to fight this? Since when are religious beliefs (or lack there of) grounds for firing someone??

I'm sorry that happened to you. I've known people who have been let go for facebook posts on there own devices and management found out. If your browsing porn or something inappropriate like that I could understand and it be justified. I'd contact an attorney, depending on your company's policy about use of work computers you may be out of luck if they have a written policy for that. I hope you find a other job soon and are able to get back on your feet. They should of at least gave your a warning and showed you the policy (if it exists) I hope the video puts a smile on your face.

I mean, it's not unfair at all really. AF isn't a site that is related to work, so accessing it from work will likely violate work policies. It astounds me that people think they have a right to access personal websites whilst at work. You're being paid to work, not browse forums.

We have a perfectly good mobile site; if you want to access AF at work and not do it on corporate computers using a corporate connection, use your phone. I still wouldn't recommend doing that unless you're doing it doing work-mandated free time (i.e. at lunch).

I'm sorry someone was fired for browsing this site, but the more general warning to people should be: don't browse non-work related sites whilst you are at work. The forums will still exist in the evening when you get home.

I don't see how it is grounds for firing an otherwise outstanding employee with a spotless record though...the bias here is plain as day.

Took the words right out of my mouth, Rob.  I think this is less about web browsing at work and way more about "oooooh, scary, immoral atheist, BAD!"

Oh yea, because we atheists are such terrible people! We promote independent thought which does not come from a book. Oh shit, Oh shit, the end is near! Save the children from the big bad atheist. He will puff and puff and blow your house down with his evil words. Was it even it worth going to all the work to find out if an employee was browsing a site? I'm sure the network admins saw "Amazon, walmart, ebay," and did nothing about those; a forum, oh no, it's worst then porn!
