Others would say, Ireland has moved on from a near theocracy to joining the civilized world. You may want to read up on what happened in Irish Orphanages during your kind of golden age. It's the most glaring example of what happens when any religion is allowed to run unchecked.

I love Ireland, but I am sort of sad about the direction it has chosen to take in the past 25 years or so.
