Evidence for atheist claims
RE: Evidence for atheist claims
What, if anything, is the veridical difference between an NDE and a dream?

The cause.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Veridical (adjective): coinciding with reality.

What I meant was, why should give any more or less credence about what a NDE has to say about reality than we would give to a dream?

I'd give it less credence, because of the more extreme stress on the brain.

Considering our 'brain-in-a-vat' scenario, there really is not any difference between dreams, NDEs or our 'normal reality'.

Even within the vat, one of those three appears to be more accurate and consistent than the others. Ultimately, we may choose to consider "normal reality" a sort of waking dream (I do, lol), but that won't change the qualitative differences between it and the other two.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. Hell is a state of mind but this state can and will one day have to change because nobody like
to live in such a state.
The only permanent thing is the cosmic mind behind this illusion but let us come to your hell.
Once you leave your dead body (when you die so to speak) you can not possibly end up in an hell in which you suffer physically.
You only have YOU your consciousness.
The old body has been left behind to rot so how can you possibly feel physical pain?
It is your story that is bogus therefore.
In the after life there is no such a thing as a tormentor.
If you done something wrong in your life it is you that may torment yourself and therefore
it is a state of mind.
When you realize how pure and full of love this place is and at the same time you realize how
bad you are you suffer.
This suffering is caused by you not by a tormentor.
However through the reincarnation you can sort out your problems and at the end everything will be fine.

Wrong once again yog.  Banghead

You're so full of shit.  You claim that NDEs are proof of the afterlife, but now you claim the afterlife that NDEs describe isn't the real one.  You can't have it both ways.  Either NDEs are proof of the existence of a hellish afterlife, or you have to discount them entirely, which is what you've done.  You can't claim something as evidence and then claim that something is wrong.  It's nothing but a nonsensical disavowal of the evidence you claimed.  So which is it?  Are NDEs an accurate depiction of reality or aren't they?  Because if they aren't, then they aren't evidence of an afterlife.

You're just making shit up and changing the subject.  Regardless of what you believe, you were wrong about NDEs not describing the classical hell.  But nice little tapdance trying to distance yourself from your error.  If real NDEs aren't the source of your knowledge of the afterlife, then you're just pulling this shit from your ass.

Holy cr.p yog.  Panic
It look like you had a terrible day.  Banging Head On Desk

Did your boyfriend lover left you?  Argue
You are totally confused.
First you come down with someone who suppose to have seen some sort of physical hell in his NDE.
I already correct your blunder by explaining you that that is not possible for the reason that when you die
you do not have a physical body anymore.
Only consciousness is there therefore it is absurd to think that you can suffer physical pain in a hell that can not exist.
After this blunder now you come out with more bullshit by telling me that there is a contradiction in my post.
But where is this contradiction yog other than in your fantasy?
Get real girl.
Stop fooling yourself in thinking that you can be able to put me in a corner.
I got bad news for you yog.
Yoga never lost a match so far and never will.  Indubitably

How old is the Rik? [edit] never mind...just scrolled another page back. So Rik has crept up to the age bracket with the highest risk of dimensia and Alzheimer's...Knowing that seems to make sense of a lot of this...
