The bathroom law isn't really about who gets to take a dump where. It's a smokescreen to prevent local municipalities from raising the minimum wage as so many other cities have done elsewhere in the nation. As long as they can keep the focus on the restroom provision they can hide the real purpose of the law, which is to continue to pay people next to nothing for their labor. Their plan seems to be working.

I care about the transgender just as much as about every other group of people, but it simply isn't worth it to get into this debate until this phase a large part of first-world youth is going through right now passes.

Only the bigots have told us that they care about transgendered people,  while adamantly holding onto their ignorance on the subject. The only one that hasn't is Drich and he is incapable of feeling empathy and doesn't even know what care is.

If they truly cared then they would not want to people with a medical condition that they have no choice over to risk being humiliated, sexually, physically and verbally abused every time they went to the toilet. They would use the pronoun that trans people ask for rather than negating their every existence. If they truly cared they would not dismiss the scientific evidence on the matter. They would also be happy with them living a normal life rather than trying to stigmatise them and depict them as untermensch.

It's that they think that rapists, en masse, are going to go to all the trouble of dressing up as women and go into a public bathroom (probably full of people) to do the deed.

I don't know why we're acting like nobody has ever been raped before. Sad reality, there are sick bastards out there and they'll be sick bastards whether it's in a public toilet or down an alleyway. Banning transgender people from public toilets isn't going to stop it.

It's worse than that, the fucks are saying that rapists are now going to go to the trouble & expenseof having surgery and even hormone therapy, in order to look like the opposite sex so they can indulge in a little bit of sexual assault in the type of place with high foot traffic, increasing their likelihood of getting caught.

I just want to take a second and try express the inexpressible amount of chutzpah it took to post what EP did, immediately after someone just posted a bullet list of 100% logical, scientific facts (data that are the result of scientific study of the subject) that demonstrate why most of the Opposition against transgender rights are in fact simply bigots who don't even want to know the actual facts, and to state that people on the rights side of the debate are simply "throwing a tantrum".

If it is possible to be more cool and reasonable than Mathilda just was, I wouldn't know how to recognize it.

Edit to Add: I'm getting a little bit sick of people using the youth trend of shouting down opposition, what are called SJWs, to attack the people who reasonably try to advocate for the rights of other people who are being oppressed or denied their basic humanity, applying the examples as if they are representative of the whole.

This debate is obviously going nowhere, since the side defending transgenders' rights(or, at least, thinking that is what they're doing), in my experience always threaten to throw tantrums if you don't agree with them, try to bully you into agreeing with them and generally feel like their rationalized ends justify any means of conversation(or lack thereof). hmmm....since obama and loretta lynch's justice dept. are pushing in favor of transgenders using the bathrooms of the sex they identify with, what's to keep a child molester, or a voyeur, or a rapist from saying he identifies with being a woman just to gain access to women's restrooms? Have obama and lynch put any safeguards in place to prevent something like this from happening? The NC law seems to be the only safeguard at this point.

Same thing that's -always- kept them out of the ladies room.  Nothing.  It's not as if there's ever been a gender identifying force field affixed to the door.  Nor do we post guards at restrooms. Where was all of this concern before......when the "danger" was precisely the same as it is now?

Let's not kid ourselves...that concern was as absent as the tendency to link transgenders to sex offenders and deviants was present. Business as usual. No ones buying it, who wasn't already sold. Pretty sure that most of us could have made a list, prior to this, of everyone who's come out as a bigot since. It's not even remotely surprising.
