Here we go again with the fucking age thing. I have absolutely zero sympathy for rapists. Whether the state harms them or the other prisoners do, the rapist will get what is coming to them.

It's as simple as that.

You have to make a distinction between not liking and if it actually makes sense. In the 70ies and 80ies there has been a law in certain states that allowed for chemical castration. Well, it didn't work, according to professionals. That's the difference between a scientific and an emotional approach.

Nobody mentioned anything about chemical castration. I know they do the same thing but cutting their balls off would be more of a message than anything. They'd still be serving a sentence and most likely be killed inside. And I'm happy with that, whether the castration occurs or not.

I guess I just never really understood the impulse to be cruel towards cruel people.  Even people that have wronged me terribly, I never wished for them to suffer or experience some grievous harm.  This 'retribution' mindset might be understandable considering a victim's emotions, but it's certainly not something we should base our justice system on.

So be thankful it's not. Rapists get their sentences which you want, and a large amount of them get killed or severely wounded on the inside like I want. So we're both happy-ish.

Yeah, I think we just depart on the way we reason here. I'm fully against the death penalty and any sort of forced castrations. Just like I'm against chopping off thieves' hands or any other cruel and unusual punishment for various crimes. Acting like animals ourselves doesn't make us any better, it makes us worse. Shit, forced castration is something I'd expect to see in Saudi Arabia.

I can see that logic. Leaving behind emotional wants would be a more fair justice system. Personally I am the kind that if the person did wrong me terribly then I want real eye for an eye justice. Of course this is why I should never be in law enforcement, any court related job, or really anything that let's me have power over someone I deem bad. My question is though that if we see jail and nothing else as just punishment how does that make the person better? If someone has done something so heinous as sexual assault it means there is something VERY wrong in their mind set. Putting them in jail, a place where violence, hate, and anger rules, won't fix that disgusting desire in them. Where do we balance out the fair punishing him part and the acknowledging that he is mentally unstable?
