If the Earth was rotating opposite to its orbit then there would be an extra day (367.242 days per year). The same would be true, of course, for the moon. If it didn't rotate at all relative to the earth, then from earth it would appear to make a complete rotation every 27 days, but in reality it just travelled around the earth facing whatever side was closest to the earth.

I know there's a difference between rotation and revolution. One happens 365.242 times or so a year and the other only once.

The earth takes about 23 hours and 56 minutes for one rotation. During the rotation, the earth has changed position around the sun. The earth has to rotate about .98 degrees (about 4 min) further to catch up. This extra rotation times 365.25 days adds one extra rotation for the earth.

If the planet was rotating in the opposite direction at the same speed then there would in fact be 367.242 days per year.
