If Americans did sit ups for every time flags got raised and lowered over gun violence we'd be a fit nation.

Yeah, I'm not with them. I've heard this was the biggest mass shooting in American history. Fifty dead, and as many injured, if I'm not mistaken. And these people don't want to just show respect for the sudden loss of life for a moment.

I've done a little checking around here and was surprised it seemed around 1/2 that 'should have been' (public building with lanyard style pole) were 1/2 staffed.
I thought it was a good sign. Every PO I checked was complying, some public schools did, some didn't (it's summer, not even sure if anyone on staff to do it, btw) and municipalities seemed to be at 50% compliance too.
Wasn't that long ago it would have been that Alabama county everywhere up here.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

What are the actual qualifications for flag lowering? Can they be sued or arrested for this? I'm about tired of government officials who refuse to do their damn jobs.

Some politicians just like to seize the opportunity to grandstand when there's a big event because it gives them the stage to push their agenda.
So far this month 201 people have been shot in Chicago with 32 fatalities. It has barely made the news. The Governor hasn't said squat and the President sure didn't lower the flags.
