The vote would have never happened here because we have no provision by which to hold a national referendum.  (I consider that a feature, not a bug.)

If we could have voted on it, it might have very well gone the same way - and I'd be criticizing that result just as soundly.

It was a hypothetical question, if the US had joined a trading bloc, that after 20 years had turned itself into law making, undemocratic superstate in waiting.....how do you think the US would have voted?

With all due respect, we'll just have to sit it out, it's interesting to see the frothy mouthed reactions from people who have no vested interest, especially considering their reactions seem so ill-informed.  

No vested interest?  You do realize that the UK doesn't exist in a vacuum, don't you?  My wife and I personally lost a few thousand dollars in our 401K the day after the Brexit, and we're in the U.S.  My parents also lost thousands, too.  You see, it's this kind of rhetoric coming from the Brexit crowd that makes me feel as if they did not think this through.

The global economy is everyone's vested interest, and I find it frightening that don't seem to grasp that.

We'll see the outcome in a few years, as I said before, my guess is that Britain shall be in a much stronger position than we were.

Well, pardon fucking me if your guess isn't very comforting to those of us that didn't have a say in the matter.  This was not a decision to make based on how you think it's going to turn out.

I reiterate, can you imagine the vitriol we Americans would get if we tanked the economy with a vote and all we had to offer was "my guess is we'll be stronger?"  Yet you Brexiters think everyone else should just shut their mouths about it and accept your vote as if it's going to have no effect on us at all.  Sorry to burst your bubble, but you don't live in a vacuum, and your choices have real consequences.  Try to think about that next time you step into the voting booth.

While he may be an intolerant fuckbag who definitely isn't Prime Minister or Brexit negotiating material, he still deserves kudos in this particular instance for helping get us the referendum in the first place. I give kudos to people who deserve them, whether they hate what I am or not. Doesn't mean I suddenly like him.
