Curses. Just as I was about to post reams and reams (no pun intended) of pornographic material, you tell me I can't do it.

I shall remain defiant!
PS, to Tibs... If I type "naked hot ladies", will the google bots catch this?
If so, we should all type filthy stuff because that's what the young ones search.
Google will link them here where you'll get the adclicks?
I'll start! "Hot hairy Asian nun dildo beastiality tentacles" Yep, that just about covers it! I can hear the cash registers already!

Not sure whether those will trigger the Google bot, but I have to say it's incredibly stupid to even try. By all means protest the new rule, but don't think you're being clever by trying to break it in a subtle way; it exists for a reason.
If we got regular donations, this wouldn't even be an issue.

I mean it's not really a big deal for me personally, because I doubt I ever violate the rule anyway. It's not what I'm here for. I just like to avoid that slippery slope. Just like it's the nature of government to add laws and never repeal them, so too is it the nature of internet forums to add more rules and never get rid of any of the old ones.
There's advertising on all pages for logged out users. Unfortunately we ran the site on donations for several years, and the problem is that people don't just donate a little more money. We've had several large donations in the past that helped the site for a long time, but unfortunately donations these days are rare.
Adding adverts that only appeared for logged out users seemed like a good compromise, because ultimately nobody who joins the site saw them, but they still generated sufficient revenue to pay for the site bills.
I would've donated more regularly but I figured that if there were about 10,000 members and plenty of purples, and with it only costing $25 a month to run, that it would only take about one donation a month to run and any more than that would be stockpiled for the future... and therefore that you'd be well covered... shows how wrong you can be If you don't mind me asking, roughly how much do you receive in donations/how often?

I'd like to let everyone know we've reconsidered the stance on sexually themed jokes. We're not banning them on the main forum. Things will be pretty much as before, with sexually explicit jokes reserved for area 69. But keep children out of the jokes please.

I'm going to start doing quarterly donation drives and this way everyone can see exactly how much money is donated xD

I'm not sure why there's people in this thread bemoaning this, with statements like "The way AF is going.." as if this is the precursor to some Orwellian censorship brigade. The effective change to AF is so minimally small (unless for some reason your entire kudos crop is grown on explicit content outside of A69), that the vast majority of people won't have to change a damn thing.

@FaF I disagree. I think it was a huge deal. Not because it would necessarily change everything but because since I have joined AF the staff have always prided themselves on being anti censorship. To ban any sexual jokes or innuendos was over the top and people were right to be upset. However, after our discussion we realized this was a mistake on our part and decided to put things right. So sexual jokes are allowed whereas sexually explicit jokes are for a69. That's the same rule as we have always had. Now the only new censorship is that we cannot allow for any pedophilia (or that weird way Rob spells it ) not even in jokes. It can be discussed in a serious manner as long as the discussion is not sexual.

I was thinking maybe Tibs could change the thingy at the top from saying 'our server costs $25 a month to run...' to something like 'our server is funded for the next x months... please consider donating...' so that we'd know when to top it up as it were Maybe that banner could even be done programmatically somehow... I don't know if that's feasible.
