For C++ I can SSH into my linux box, and for Python stuff, I can work in the Android Python IDE. Lab stuff I never do on my laptop anyways. I use the lab servers for that stuff. I once used SSH to run an LHC simulation on our Uni cluster from my Palm while BBQing in the meadows. True story! As long as you don't need graphics it should be no problem, I don't know whether something like X-forward would work.
