I mean how are we really supposed to take it? Trump himself has already said he wants to 'open up' libel laws. He basically wants to gut the first amendment, especially freedom of the press. Should one ignore that, when considering what he's asking of Russia?
I was watching the press conference live. He was being asked a lot of questions about whether he was happy the DNC emails were released. He said he's glad they put the information out there. He then said, maybe they can find the 30,000 emails Hillary deleted too, with a smug chuckle. Then he said what you are quoting.
It was clearly a joke. It was even a funny joke.
