Sounds like a progressive and positive protest to me or am I missing something????

Black lives matter protestors block roads in the uk
|
I support anyones right for peaceful protest tbh, but agree that I don't think the appetite is there in the UK for much to come of it, especially as the main issue for US BLM of black deaths at the hands of the police just isn't an issue in the UK. There may be an issue over number of arrests being disproportionate, but if that is what they are protesting I'm not sure black *lives* matters is really the right group to hijack.

Don't block fucking roads and I might be slightly more sympathetic.
They have roads just for fucking now?
That sounds hawt.
For anyone interested, link below to reports for in custody deaths in England and Wales

Peaceful protests work less well when they break the law.
I agree to people being arrested for it. It's understandable that road users would be pissed off. Wanting one of them to be run over though is too extreme.
The road users being pissed off is kind of the point.
It is in the BLM script to move aside for emergency vehicles.

Pissing off motorists isn't exactly going to do any good for their movement. They're just gonna think "these guys are a bunch of cunts" and eventually move on with their day.
Maybe.
And maybe some of the progressives that see it will look up the movement, see their goals, and find a way to help. The people like you who refuse to do any research and find out what they are really protesting, the people who could possibly say something as short-sighted as "calling the police in the UK racist and the usual nonsense BLM spouts" aren't the targets. You weren't going to give them a serious thought anyways. The goal is simple, to not fear getting shot by police because I'm black. As a person who has had a service weapon pulled on him because I didn't ask permission to reach into my glovebox for my insurance card during a traffic stop, I'd say you can fucking get over being inconvenienced on a motorway, or join in to make it stop so you won't be inconvenienced any more.

But deaths in police custody are an extreme rarity in the Uk. Without looking at the figures I would estimate of all police interactions here probably less than a 10th of a % result in a death directly attributed to police action. If you're talking deaths as a result of police actively shooting someone, it's probably less than that. Of course one needless death is one needless death too many.
The biggest problem with the U.K. Legal system is more its underfunding and the restrictions on legal aid for those who can't afford to hire a defence or fail through applications for state legal services. This discriminates against poor demographics, regardless of colour or gender. Love atheistforums.org? Consider becoming a patreon and helping towards our server costs.
