I knew that water slide would kill someone.

I knew that water slide would kill someone.
Back when I first heard about this being opened, I knew right off the bat someone would die on it eventually. I think in general this really stems from hyper competition and our species really has a hard time with it's own hubris and as a result this is what happens.

That poor family. Just a fucking kid...
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Statement from the family "he's with Jesus now".....UGGGGGGG.  Everyone hates losing a family member to any type of death, but I hate this logic because that means your hero was watching and chose not to stop it.  This poor kid didn't die because Jesus wanted him in heaven, he died because of poor design and bad safety protocol.

Ugh...as a parent, this is the kind of shit that keeps me up at night.

We are a few hours from the original Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels and they have the Master Blaster. I went on it once... -once-. That was the most terrifying thing ever and it was smaller than this one. I'm confused as to how he died though. The downward portion is caged in. Did he fall, drown, or was this not actually the ride's fault? No one can really say yet.

As always, what's wrong with you? If it helps them to cope, who are you to judge? You might not like it, but it's their loss, not yours.

The news interviewed another guest who said the harness in front was not working correctly. She said she rode it more than once that day, and it was not working any of the times she rode it.
Does not say if she bothered to tell an employee about that, or if that is the cause of the death.

Just a really horrible tragedy though. Sad

That doesn't make sense. What are the chances that she got the same tube/raft more than once or that all of them were bad. If it is anything like the one here you get a new one every time you go on, it isn't a structured ride where you can get the same exact spot every time. The tubes either go up the conveyor belt and you get whichever one spits out at the time you get to the top or you pick one up from a pile and walk it upstairs.

I'm just trying to get a grasp on whether this was the ride's fault for being... faulty, a neglectful employee, or something else entirely unrelated that ended up killing the boy by chance. I only wonder because while I know all rides have a risk but I would like to know if Schlitterbahn should shut it down for good or if that was a freak accident.

No, no.  This is where "Mysterious Ways" comes in.

Catholics have this "Guardian Angel" bullshit.

Quote:No evil shall befall you, nor shall affliction come near your tent, for to His Angels God has given command about you, that they guard you in all your ways. Upon their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Apparently this kid's 'guardian angel' was off getting a blow job when she got infected.

Pretty shitty work for an "angel."
