As you have all pointed out, this man acts like Trump was once a good candidate. That he once stood for important issues. He is also saying he would still vote for Trump if he just stops acting like a baboon publicly, even though the mask is now off and he knows the truth. He's begging for an illusion, even knowing it's an illusion, because that will somehow make things ok again?

Chickens coming home to roost. Fuck the GOP. Louisiana's unlamented former governor famously opined that the GOP needed to stop being the party of stupid. Not only did they not heed his call, but Bobby's suggestion came about 48 years too late -- ever since the Goldwater fiasco of '64. But at least Goldwater had the intellectual integrity and honesty to change his mind over the years when he was presented with evidence that he was wrong. Today's GOP seems incapable of such introspection or honesty.

I'll echo what several others have already said: Trump has shown his true character since the 1980s. He's always been a classless, egotistical buffoon with no self-discipline. It's not like he's a newcomer nobody has heard of until recently. He's a long-time, known commodity. I'm befuddled that anyone expected anything different from him. It's like nominating David Duke for President and then after 10 months of his stumping suddenly declaring: "Hey! This guy's a racist!"

He appeared on the scene already at a level of stupidity that was astonishing. Breathtaking. I'm glad some of his supporters are starting to desert him, but damn. What the fuck is different about Trump now vs. Trump circa primaries? He's the same disgrace to the species he's always been.

What I'd like to know is what exactly caused this change of heart. Not much has changed; he's just getting more and more powerful, spouting off the same bullshit as before. I don't know, maybe it's hiring a spokeswoman who somehow missed eight fucking years of RECENT American history and claiming Obama sent us off to Afghanistan (because, apparently, there's no difference between waxing and waning about pulling out for six years and sending us there in the first place).
