The words private prison complex in the thread title should've tipped you off even if you're too lazy to read one word of the OP before responding to it.

1. There's no such a thing as a private prison in my country, which is why I asked but it looks like only Rhythm ain't so lazy to take the time and answer my question.
2. For unknown reasons I get "this page is unreachable from your country" for Washington Post. I suppose one of the reasons might be the fact I'm using mobile internet with dynamic IP address.

At the federal level, we're going to phase them out...because regardless of (or in addition to...depending on how you approach it) whatever objections I've brought up in this thread..they didn't deliver the service they promised, didn't meet the conditions for which they existed in the first place.

I see. But won't it lead to overcrowded government prisons? I admit I've never been in prison but it's not hard to imagine what would happen when space becomes insufficient with too many people inside and limited resources.

Again, look at the American justice system and it's punitive character. That's the way to understand the largest prison population on earth. In it's extreme it can land yourself in jail for taking a piss in the streets, and, although it never was the intent to wave your dick at innocent bystanders, on the sex offenders list.

There's no need for as much prison space if you don't imprison people for petty crimes or nuisances.

The private prisons won;t even -break ground- on construction unless they;re allowed to generously overcrowd their own prisons.  They actually get states to agree.in a legally binding way..to that. Whereas for the government it is a limit that when it is reached, we go to extraordinary lengths to ameliorate that problem...such as considering funding a private, for profit prison. Apparently, that money would have been better spent developing the public (which is to say government operated) prison system. A bunk is a bunk...we can build boxes too.

True but somehow I doubt all these people will be pardoned with removing (or whatever they plan to do) private prisons.

The private prisons will do just fine under a Clinton Administration. They have given her campaign millions. The e-mails show she likes to return favours to large donors so I think she will reward the prison-industrial complex for their huge donations. She got more donations from private prisons than any of the Republicans, if I remember rightly.

The shittiness that is concerns me more than the shittiness that might-be, most times.  Trump might ruin america™, and that would be terrible on so many levels for so many people.  

Clinton will support the prison complex, and that is terrible on so many levels, for so many people. I;m sure Trump would too..if they'd just give him some fucking money already - but I guess they don't see him as a commensurate return on investment as they see Clinton. I can understand.
