Of course, having daughters is going to lead to vehement bias, which I suppose it probably should.

I have two daughters (both of consensual age) and as long as they use protection, I don't care who they fuck or how often. Christer standards be damned, all I want for my kids is for them to be happy. If sexual promiscuity does that for them then more power to them.

Apart from the god bit of the post, I sort of agree that the world might be better off in monogamous relationships and in 2 parent family house holds.

A lot of communities with 1 parent single mother house holds fail, not as a rule just an overall tendency.
Females tend to be more promiscuous without a father figure and men have no male role model.
Plus there's usually some dependence on welfare.

I've seen videos online that theorize that the root cause of events like the Milwaukee riots has nothing to do with race but everything to do with culture and single mothers trying to unsuccessfully raise bored, young jobless men who are in turn also not getting married or settling down.
Milwaukee is very very statistically high in the rates of births outside of marriage, I think possibly the highest in America or one of the highest.

I say all this as someone who has a daughter and I'm not with her mother anymore.
The situation just isn't ideal.
I give her money but I don't have enough money to save for my own house mortgage and buy her and my daughter a house aswell as my own, I think for most people that's the case in that they won't have that much money.
If we were together then we could pool our resources, easily buy a house and she would also get to spend more time with our child instead of going out to work herself.

I've resigned myself to thinking this is just the way my situation is now and all I can do is not be absent as much as possible despite long work hours and not living with my daughter.


Just to point something out though, it's totally understandable as to why people aren't completely monogamous through their life at least to a certain extent, it takes time to realise what makes you happy sexually, staying with the first person you have sex with forever might not necessarily be ideal either.

Seems to me that a large portion of your actual issue here comes down to an income thing, and not a monogamy thing. I see no particular reason to lean back on- let's face it, kind of arbitrary- social mores to resolve an issue that could also be solved, and a few others besides, by addressing the economic disparities that make this kind of pooling of resources necessary in order to raise children.

This isn't me, by the way, shitting on the idea of monogamy, nor arguing in favor of the reverse, but I do look askance at a two-adult romantic relationship being the "proper" way to do things, for a number of reasons.

In response to the last two replies.

Yeh you could look at the problem as not being one of monogamy and parenthood but being a problem that we have to live in a world of limited resources, disease, and an imperfect medical/economical system.

My point is that even as somone who's lived a life style of constant promiscuity, and come away with clean std results each time despite often not using condoms.

I can still see the benefits in this world we live in of being monogamous.

Tax benefits, mostly.  I make a killing. Guess who;s most likely to give you an std? The one night stand? One of the five people from last nights orgy? Nope. The wife. In 40 years of life she may have only had sex with one other person...and she didn;t know, but neither did he...and he only had sex with two people himself. Doesn't matter, sucker. STD's and STI's are -ubiquitous- to human beings, we only think otherwise or differently because we've been subject to cultural brainwashing of the most absurd order...considering that the people who did it had the fucking things themselves. Show up at the gp with an itch and it's not even a big deal...he sees it all day everyday, from the monogamous ones, from the "promiscuous" ones....from everyone.

Monogamy isn't a magical amulet. Biology doesn't give a shit how sanctified your relationship is. We imagine that there are a few "dirty ones" out there fucking up our "purity"..but we're demonstrably wrong about that. There are precious few "clean ones" regardless of how many people they've screwed. Good luck, try not to lose sleep over it.

It... helps. Assuming you take part in that lifestyle ethically.

I think a lot of it just comes down to self-honesty and self-discovery, being able to both say what you want without fear of judgment from those around you, and being around enough more people in a broader amount of contexts, who can help put names and information to desires you have. It's not some cure-all, but it does help ease the way into personal growth you might not even know was needed otherwise.

On the flipside, you could leave behind you a trail of broken relationships and regrets, but... not doing that is also on the table.
