Don't go through a lot of trouble, because they "don't eat much".
Yeah, okay.

Either one or both of them has legitimate dietary concerns, or they've already decided whatever you make isn't going to be good enough; and/or that you're too stupid and unrefined to know not to offend their basic sensibilities.

I wouldn't bend over ass-backwards to please such snide, snooty little pricks, if that were the case.

They'd eat whatever the hell I made, or not eat.

Well it happened.  They were very nice and it turns out dad is by far the most picky.  Apparently he travels a bit for his work (now pro bono in retirement).  He took great pains to explain how he always only eats food the way it is prepared in the little village he grew up in.  Wherever he goes he brings along a sufficient supply of twice steamed 'flattened' rice.

Having just dieted for the first several months of the year, I appreciated when people made it easy for me to just eat what I wanted/needed.  So I put it out there from the start that they should just eat what they wanted/needed for their own goals.  Their nephew ate some of everything and mom was more adventurous than dad.

Anyhow I liked them and to be fair they did tell us ahead of time they would have already eaten and not to go to a great deal of trouble.  So we have some leftovers.  We'll eat it.

Our guests in the garden :

And with us in Lia's studio:

The photos of the garden I took after they left I'll post in the member photos thread.

Damn right. I've had people turn their noses up at the food I made after I spent hours slaving in the kitchen making it. I never bothered cooking for them again. I have a high opinion of my cooking, so anyone who treats my hard work like crap can go order McDonald's instead.

I just hate that because I normally enjoy cooking for other people.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

Maybe. Or perhaps it would finally bring unity and peace to Kashmir.  Cross Fingers
