JetBlue loses kid...

RE: JetBlue loses kid...
So strictly speaking, they misplaced *two* kids, right?

Seems like the perfect setting for a Home Alone reboot

It's the anti-home alone...

The parents were gonna leave the kids by themselves anyway in the plane.

Most airlines have a special service taking care of minors between ca. 5-11 when travelling alone, it's a standard practise.

Way to miss the point. Yes, airlines do baby sit kids, but normally they don't end up in the wrong place. Hello McFly, it was a joke saying if you are going to lose a kid, lose someone who is worth losing.

Yeah, and the mom paid JetBlue 100$ extra for just that. Money well spent, in my opinion.

Still, as bad as that was for JetBlue, what kind of parent lets their 5 year-old fly from the Dominican Republic to New York with some stranger? There is no way in hell I would let my five year-old do that.

Who knows, I don't know the situation of said family...

Back in the 70's our family did this. My egg donor put my sister and I on an airplane from Baltimore and we flew down to our grandparents in Florida. This wasn't anything new. I was five years old the first time I ever flew on an airplane and it wasn't until 7 years ago that I finally flew in a plane with the egg donor for the first time. Up to that point, anytime I've traveled by flight, it was either alone or with my sister who is only a few years older than me.

Apparently, they were visiting family in the Dominican Republic, and the mom had to go back(early maybe?). She left her son with her family in the DR and flew back on her own, so the son had to fly back on his own a few days later.

Maybe I'm over protective or I just have different values, but I'm hard pressed to think of a scenario where I would leave my son in another country.
